In summer, Castaic Lake State Park, about a half-hour’s drive north of Santa Clarita, offers plenty of opportunities to cool off or get back to nature. The 9,000-acre park has many miles of hiking and biking trails. The reservoir’s upper lake is popular for bass fishing, and the lower lake has a lagoon and swim beach. Visitors can enjoy boating, jet skiing, paddle boarding, and moonlight fishing and kayaking events on its calm blue waters.

The nearest airport is in Los Angeles Intl. (LAX), located 31.9 mi (51.4 km) from the city center. If you can't find a flight that works for your travel itinerary, you might consider flying into Van Nuys, CA (VNY), which is 12.3 mi (19.9 km) away.
