My wife and I stayed here for a week with our dog, and it was a perfect getaway. The house is beautiful, well-appointed, and comfortable for relaxation. We had weather ranging from the mid-40s to the 70s, so we were able to take advantage of the variety of places indoor and outdoor places to eat, read, and hang out. The sleeping porch upstairs is worth the price of admission alone; on a chilly evening, the propane powered stove made for a cozy nook, and I imagine it would be great in any season. The upstairs walls feature a wonderful collection of etchings and prints.
In addition to having excellent taste, the owners are very responsive over email setting up and following up on the reservation. We also had the contact info for a caretaker who lives next door; he waved at one point from the road and asked if there was anything we needed, but otherwise we were on our own. An excellent mix of privacy while knowing help was at hand if we had needed it.
While there, we took some great hikes in nearby White Mound Park and Devil's Lake State Park. We also had a great afternoon visiting a local cheesemaker and finding things like organic eggs and tomato seedlings from nearby Amish farms and greenhouses. The house is right across the country road from a fishing and hunting preserve that we explored a little bit as well.
What else? Great kitchen. Reliable wifi and phone provided for long-distance calls. Comfortable bed. No complaints!
Highly recommended. We hope to be back!
