                                Perfect getaway

                                5 of 5
We loved everything about our stay at Little Sugar River Farm. Prior to our arrival, Frank was responsive, flexible and accommodating. The house is perfect, cozy, architecturally interesting, clean, roomy. We especially enjoyed playing records from the large collection, picking a movie from the quality selection of VHS tapes, and sitting on the swing on the back porch. There were only two of us, but there was plenty of room for at least four more people. While there are two other buildings close to the house, it still felt private because we didn't really notice other people due to the way the house is situated. We cooked dinner and breakfast and had everything we needed. As for activities, we borrowed Frank's bikes and took a ride to Monticello (maybe 4 miles each way). The bikes were fine for that length of trip, but if you want to go much farther, I'd consider bringing your own. We drove to New Glarus (15 mins) and visited the brewery to sample some beers on their huge patio. We also enjoyed picking fruit from the trees and bushes right outside the house. This is a great place to get away from it all for a few days. (We only wish we could have stayed longer.) In my opinion, it's best for adults. Kids, at least young ones, may enjoy it, but may also not appreciate sitting on a porch swing the same way that adults do. But for us, it was perfect, and we hope to come back again.

                                Wonderful Getaway

                                5 of 5
This is a quaint bungalow with a living room, dining room, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, a small fully equipped kitchen (minus the aluminum foil, which would have been helpful) and a wonderful spa room with an electric fireplace, lounge chairs and Jacuzzi large enough for 2 people. The bedroom on the second floor has an electric fireplace, a larger bathroom than the first floor and a cute nook with a window-seat. There is a cute area in the back of the house for eating outside with a great side BBQ grill. The area extends through a meadow area and leads down to the river (no access to river though because of tall plants). Some rooms in the house have dim-lighting features (like the spa room), which is nice. The house is filled with books and magazines, and there is a wonderful front indoor porch with lots of comfy chairs that overlooks the quiet street. There is a faint smell of cat in the bungalow (strongest in the back indoor porch) that I never quite got used to, but we still highly recommend this place. There is now wifi at the bungalow, albeit a little slow. Not many cell phone services work in Albany, but you can hook up your phone to the wifi and have service. There are no grocery stores in Albany, so be prepared to drive about 20 minutes for fruits and vegetables. The owners were always available and helped us with whatever we needed. We found plenty to do in the area. There is kayaking/canoeing/tubing within 5 minutes of walking from the bungalow. There are dairy farms that we just drove up to and learned about the farms from their owners. There are many cheese factories/breweries and cute towns all around to explore. Cave of the Mounds is a wonderful attraction about an hour away.
