Its classification is a humid continental climate with four distinct and extremely different seasons. In fact, the area has long, warm and humid summers with average highs close to 80 degrees and average lows in the 50s. It also has long, cool winters with ample snowfall. In the winters, the average high is in the 20s and the average low is in the teens and single digits. You can expect approximately 30 inches of rain to fall each year and approximately 51 inches of snow annually. Spring and fall months are transitional with often mild temperatures, but there can be huge temperature changes during these seasons as well.
Eagle River is located in an out-of-the-way location that is relatively rural or undeveloped. This gives it its unique charm and quiet ambiance that people love. However, it also makes it a bit more challenging to get to the area. A smart idea is to travel first to Green Bay via bus, air or your own car. You can rent a car if necessary in Green Bay to make it the rest of the way to Eagle River. Take Highway 29 west until you reach the exit for Highway 45. Then, take Highway 45 north, and follow this road until you reach Eagle River. Expect this car ride to take several hours through scenic countryside.
