We only stayed one night over Spring Break to play around in Denison and hike at Eisenhower State Park just up the road. There are lots of cool little shops in downtown Denison, and you can force your family to visit the trains and Eisenhower's birthplace in trade for time in antique stores. We were thrilled with the place as soon as we walked up the steps. The owners have restored the loft apartment with obvious care and consideration, it is a very well executed renovation of a 132 year old building. One of the things you don't really get to see in the pictures is a cool little courtyard to hang out in with the family. The place is very well decorated and appointed. The beds, which are always a concern to old guys like me, were incredibly comfortable. There's an espresso machine, which I couldn't figure out; and a coffee maker, which I could! The decor is perfect for the setting, we would absolutely stay here again. It's a perfect distance for a getaway from Dallas, less than an hour away. My only caution would be for older guests, or people with bad knees... the loft requires a long walk up a flight of steps, but once inside it's great! Your wife may get some decorating ideas if you stay too long, which might translate into projects around the house when you return home, but she will appreciate the fact that you found this place all by yourself!
