Tanger has a major outlet center here, with over one million square feet of shops that is sure to wear out even the most avid bargain hunters out there. For those that have had too much sun, or just want to get away from the rest of the family for a few hours, there are plenty of options here to shop until you drop and then return your bags to the hotel before heading back out again.
If you are a bit daring, or looking for a tour to take part in, San Marcos has several unique options for you. There is a major skydiving company in the city that offers lessons to beginners, and flights for those more advanced among us. It is sure to be the flight of a lifetime, so consider that as you plan your holiday. It you want to keep your feet on the ground and partake in a few adult beverages along the way, there the Three Dudes Winery that is situated right along the banks of the river. It is highly rated and the views are magnificent.
You can probably forget to pack a jacket when coming to San Marcos, as the weather is warm year round, with the summers being rather hot and humid. This is what makes the river so appealing! There is not really a dry season, so rain can happen at any time. Even in the summer, however, temperatures rarely go over the 100-degree mark, with nights cooling off nicely.
San Marcos is almost right in the middle of Texas, along the Austin to San Antonio corridor. There is an airport that is growing in size, but many choose to drive here in order to have use of a vehicle to get around. Parking is plentiful and free, so if you do fly in, rent a car and you will be underway to almost anywhere in the city in relatively short order. Regular bus service from either Austin or San Antonio is also a possibility so plan accordingly.
