Exceptional house, Exceptional setting

5 of 5
This property is incredible. Firstly, Guarda is an amazing town with fascinating history and unique architecture. The access to hiking and outdoor activities in the Engadine region is outstanding. Just walk to the edge of town and start going...or drive a short distance to the Swiss National Park. Secondly, the house itself is beautiful. It dates to the early 1700s, if I remember correctly, but has been restored with meticulous care. The owner worked to preserve some of the key details, like the "sGraffito" inscriptions on the original walls that can now be viewed inside of the house, and the original floors and wall paneling. The modern details - very recently updated bathrooms, kitchen, and more - are very tasteful and welcome. There is lots of living space and the views are unbelievable (though the windows are small, owing to the original, preserved character of the building). Even the furniture is perfect; much of it consists of local antiques dating to the early 18th century. In short, the place is as close to perfect as it can be, and I would CERTAINLY stay here again. In fact, we are considering it. For three adults, a baby, and a dog, this was a perfect stay. I would rank it in the top 5 lodgings I have every stayed in. Mike
