The chalet is cosy and well equipped. It has breath-taking views and is very private with a balcony seating area which wraps round three quarters of the property. The property is ideal for families with walking children however, access to the property is gained by walking up a steep hill path which zig zags back and forth until you get to the chalet. Taking a push chair up would be a huge challenge and the less abled or elderly may struggle. Parking is in layby area at the base of the hill to the property. The owner does have a motorised wagon to take your luggage up the hill which is great. The passing road can get busy and it narrow and twisty. Not a problem but clients should be aware. Overall, a super place and the owners could not be more helpful!

New, clean chalet on the mountain above Brienz

              4 of 5
Our family (two adults, two kids) stayed in the Chalet Alphusli for a week in August. The Chalet is in the village of Axalp, which is a lovely spot. It is a 20 minute drive up a mountain road from the town of Brienz in the valley below. The view from the village is lovely, and the chalet is a short walk from a few restaurants and a small grocery. The actual location of the chalet within the little holiday home development is not quite as lovely--it's surrounded by gravel parking lot and retaining wall. But it does have a nice deck where we sat out for lunch--but not much privacy there given how close the surrounding homes are. The chalet itself is one of the cleanest rental properties I've ever stayed in. It has a stove and cooktop, a good sized fridge, and enough supplies in the kitchen to cook some nice meals. It also has a wood-burning stove. The space was just big enough for our family of 4. There are two bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom, and downstairs is a single space with kitchen, dining table, and living room combined, as well as a small second bathroom. The kids enjoyed watching movies on the big projector screen in the evening and there were a few games to play as well. One of our favorite things to do nearby was the woodcarvers trail, which starts from a spot just above the chalet. It is a lovely walk through the woods with delightful carved figures all along the route. Great for a family hike.
