Wonderful Relaxing Experience with Great Views

        4 of 5
This was our second time to St. Lucia, we stayed at the Windjammer resort the first time. This home is attached to the Windjammer resort and provided access to all the amenities of the resort. Of course one had to pay for the restaurants and the water sport activities but at no additional cost you are able to use the beach, brand new gym, water aerobics, yoga and shuttle to and from the villa. You can walk down to the resort from the villa and if in really good shape walk back up but rarely did we do that in the heat. The Villa itself was superb for 2 couples and could easily handle 8 people. The ability to dump in the pool was perfect when trying to relax or read and the view from either the upper or lower balcony was excellent. Joan was more than accommodating and even supplied food for the first night and breakfast the next day. We did have a small problem with the taxi on the way in that Joan had arranged but Joan made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of during the delay. FYI, the taxi problem was unexpected as was no reflection on the company that she hired. Would I stay there again, most definitely and we are already trying to arrange to come back with our kids. The villa overlooks and is on the edge of a small local street so you do get a bit of the feel of area more than just being in the villa and the sounds of roosters in the morning are great if you are up; you won't hear them in the villa when sleeping. Only item that stopped me from rating this as excellent was a number of small maintenance issue that need to be addressed...burnt out light bulbs, small problems with the tv's, microwave, toaster and door to gas for stove need some work. None of which are major in nature and as I said we are planning to come back. One last thing that was a major benefit to not being in the resort was that you could walk to the main road in about 5 to 8 minutes and catch a bus into town for less than a $1US or walk another minute or two to a local grocery store for supplies. Doing this from resort is more like a 30 minute walk to the main road on a much busier and tighter road. We felt totally safe doing this. Might be a bit more careful at night but that is just common sense. You can always take a cab back to the resort and then the shuttle up to the villa.
