We have just returned from spending five weeks at Mango House and cannot speak highly enough of Mango House as an idyllic place to stay on Nevis.
The house itself is spacious, beautifully furnished, and very comfortable. As with any rental property there will always be a few minor problems, but Ian Hart, the house manager and owner of the property firm, Hart Of Nevis, never failed to solve them for us in record speed.
We like to cook and the kitchen is one of the best equipped we have come across in several years of renting villas in the Caribbean. We particularly enjoyed finding local ingredients and some of the best vegetables we found on Nevis came from Sherma's vegetable stand about a five minute drive away.
The location of Mango House just above The Hermitage means that you have a restaurant/bar within walking distance should you choose not to cook, although be warned the return to Mango House is steep and dark at night! A car is essential for shopping, exploring the island, visiting beaches and other restaurants. The farthest you would have to drive is about half an hour to reach any restaurant on the island. The road to Mango House is steep and dotted with swales to deal with water run off so some care is needed, especially as in some places it is effectively wide enough for only one car at a time. It is easy to get used to it and we only had difficulty on our last day when the road was blocked off by the Electric Company.
Sadly, I had to work a little while we were away but the internet connection was excellent.
We made great use of the pool which is definitely large enough both for a family and a dedicated length swimmer like myself.
At the end of five weeks we agreed that Mango House was the best villa we have rented in the Caribbean and would strongly recommend it for families or groups of friends who want to enjoy the best of Nevis.
