                    Summer Breeze with Breathtaking Views

                    5 of 5
We just got back from a week at Villa Gaudi and absolutely loved it. The villa has the most incredible views on all sides and I think some of the largest property in the neighborhood -- which was great for hanging by the pool, exercising under the trees or just enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace. We were four couples so each had a room and our own bathroom in the house (although one of the rooms did have a funny odor). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need -- including a Nespresso maker. We were a little concerned when we arrived because the pool had turned green due to a rainfall, but our pool/garden man Mikaela assured us he would have it blue in a day and he came multiple times during the next two days and he did it. Having a pool after a day of sightseeing was really a treat! He was also very helpful with getting us into town to the supermarket. Prior to arriving Alfred was most helpful with tour guide recommendations and he hired us a chef for the evening that cooked one of the most outstanding meals we've ever had! When we realized that the wireless speakers were missing from the house, Alfred sent over a brand new set right away the next morning. The only thing that you may want to make sure of is that they have the house opened prior to your arrival. When we got there the air was not on and the windows were all drawn, so it was dark, hot and musty. However, after an hour the house was bright, cool, aired out and started to feel like home. We rented a car so we could go to the supermarket and into town for anything we needed, but we used the taxi service to go to Barcelona each day/night. Taxis ranged from 20-35 euros each way depending on how far you were going. Ask Alfred for the number and make sure to leave time for them to come up the hill...many times they didn't speak english but we were able to communicate just fine. Beware that on Sundays things close down -- it's a great day to head to the beach! I f you are traveling with friends or family and are looking for a lovely place to call home I would recommend Villa Gaudi.

Spectacular views & great proximity to downtown

                    4 of 5
We just returned from a week in Barcelona and Villa Rock was our home base. Overall, we had a great time and found the location to be perfect for trips into the city or day trips outside of Barcelona. Pros: Property views were spectacular. The pool was awesome after a long hot day in Barcelona The property manager was easily to deal with and honest. The property was family friendly. Cribs, high chairs, and car seats were available. The villa is ~15 minutes and a 15e cab ride from downtown. Cabs were readily available using the MyTaxi app. Aldi and Mercadona (Groceries) were a 5 minute car ride away. The lawn/pool was cleaned every couple of days. Carlos was very nice. Cons: 3/5 bedrooms had air conditioning. Unfortunately, Barcelona was experiencing a heat wave while we visited. The two bedrooms without A/C were very hot. The kitchen and game room are also not air conditioned. Given the rental price, I would recommend that the owner invests a little time and money to fix some minor issues: The pool had a lot of rust around the lights that would end up in the pool immediately after cleaning. Several stairs on the back staircase were very loose. Kitchen – the kitchen was outfitted nicely for beverages; it really lacked anything necessary to cook for a group of 10. Kitchen knives were dull and had tips broken off, cutting boards were very small, trash can was bathroom sizes, and there were no measuring cups. The property has a grill – but it was too small for a group.
