With an elevation of 12,642 feet, Arrowhead is classified as an arctic climate. Temperatures reach the mid-70s in July and sub-zero temperatures are common throughout the winter. The weather changes quickly in Arrowhead, especially in the spring and autumn. Temperatures can drop 50 degrees in a few hours and lightning storms are common in the higher mountains during the summer, so hikers and climbers are encouraged to start their treks early and dress in layers.
How to Get to Arrowhead
You can fly directly to the Vail Eagle County Airport. Vail is about 35 miles east of Arrowhead. You'll find nonstop flights offered on major airlines that include American Airlines, Continental, Delta Airlines, Northwest, United Express, and U.S. Airways. The Denver International Airport is 66-miles northeast of Arrowhead. Both airports provide car rentals, taxis, and free shuttles to the Beaver Creek Resort area. Arrowhead is less than a 10-minute drive from Beaver Creek on the I-70.
