I stayed here for a week with a large group of people (activists and delegates) during the Democratic National Convention.
Pros: The staff at the October Gallery was very friendly and responsive whenever we had an issue. They provided disposable plates, plasticware, and some coffee, along with a coffeemaker. They also put little hotel soaps in the bathroom. They came to fix any issue we had within 45 mins. The space is very unique with all the art everywhere, and the beautiful windows/fireplaces. The porch was a great space to gather outside. Every night, we gathered on the porch to talk until about 2 a.m. The house is within walking distance to the SEPTA Regional train. It's also within walking distance to a coop/grocery store. There is A LOT of parking. We had up to 7 cars at any one time and there was still room for more. There is a lot of sleeping space for a large group. The second floor conference room had a very large table to gather around. This was where we all listened to Bernie speak on Monday night of the convention. They had the staff come in to do light straightening every day--take out trash, etc., which was very useful with such a large group. They have a lockbox on the front door which meant we didn't all need a key.
Cons: They need more air conditioners--should ideally have one in every bedroom. The kitchen could use some more cooking implements--knives, etc. You have to lift up the fridge door (as the kitchen is on an angle) and push it in order for it to stay closed. It took us about a day to figure this out. Wifi would also be nice to have.
