Everything was perfect for our group of 8 at Casa Aqua. The pictures online were enticing but the reality of the house and setting managed to even exceed our high expectations. Playa Venao is a nice mix of being remote enough to feel as though you've found a true hideaway, while still having some modern conveniences such as the restaurants attached to the local hotels/resorts and access to tour guides, instructors and excursions for surfing, fishing and exploring Isla Iguana. The house itself is fantastic, extremely clean and well-maintained with all new amenities and appliances. Julie, who manages the property, is responsive and attentive. He gave us great guidance on planning our trip and maximizing our stay to the fullest extent possible. He connected us with a local excursions/activies coordinator (Omer) who was also excellent. Both Julie and Omer were exceedingly friendly and easy-going which made our stay that much better. A few bits of advice when planning your trip: (1) take advantage of the great kitchen and grill by bringing some of your own groceries; if driving from Panama City you should stop at a grocery in Chitre and if flying into Pedasi be sure to stop at the market there since Playa Venao itself has limited options (2) note that it is a hefty drive from Panama City; in retrospect we might have been better off to fly into Pedasi at rent a car from the Thrifty there since our drives between P.C. and Playa Venao were 5.5 hours and 6.5 hours respectively; unless you're staying for a full week that drive is onerous. (3) there's a nespresso machine in the house so bring some pods with you (4) the surf can be quite strong, even at low tides, so use caution for kids or weaker swimmers. All in all, a great great visit. Casa Aqua is in a perfect spot on the beach and we were all traumatized to leave. We'll be back.
