A great cottage in a beautiful private lake community

            5 of 5
A great cottage in a beautiful private lake community in the mountains of northwest New Jersey. We stayed here for a week over the Labor Day weekend and there are plenty of enjoyable and relaxing things to do. Highland Lakes is a special place where gasoline powered boats are not permitted on the lakes. Polly, the local property manager, has kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat that you can rent from her to enjoy the tranquility of the main lake. There’s a boat dock to launch your boat from just a few blocks away. A small lake a couple of blocks in the opposite direction has a grassy area for relaxing or having a picnic, playground equipment and the best beach for swimming. Beaches #3 and #4 on the east side of the main lake offer beautiful views of sunsets across the water. The Mountain Creek Water Park adjacent to the ski slopes down the mountain in Vernon is a big attraction for young families and teens. It’s a short drive down Breakneck Road (It’s not that bad). There are many places to visit in the area for folks of any age that enjoy the outdoors. Nearby Wawayanda State Park has many hiking trails including a section of the Appalachian Trail. There’s also High Point State Park and the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge. If you’re not into hiking, swimming or boating take a short drive to the historic Ringwood Manor and the New Jersey Botanical Gardens in Ringwood, NJ. Nearby Warwick, NY has many beautiful historic homes and the Warwick Drive-In, one of the few remaining drive-in theaters in America. There are also many restaurants, wineries and golf courses close by. Michael, the owner, was very professional responding promptly to inquires and handling rental documents over the internet.

            July 4th Paradise!

            5 of 5
We recently stayed at Le Petite Chalet Blue for two weeks and had an incredible time. It was my wife and I and our twin 13 month old boys. I grew up in Highland Lakes so I was very happy to find a place that was worthy enough to introduce my hometown to my boys and wife. We made countless memories on the back deck, down at the dock, in the water off the dock, and on the full fleet of boats/rafts Micki and Ron provide. One of my boys even took his first steps at the house! We'll always have a video of a rainy day at the lake with him toddling around for the first time! As owners Micki and Ron were very attentive to our needs and checked in frequently to make sure everything was going alright. During 4th of July Weekend, we were able to squeeze in 10 adults, 2 teenagers, and four toddlers into the house so it definitely can fit an army. My wife's side of the family is still talking about how much fun they had and can't wait to come back to lake! I really look forward to staying here again! Thanks Micki and Ron!

Lovely and very comfortable home and setting.

We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful home. Midwestern branch of the clan was in the area for a family wedding at nearby Mineral Springs Resort. This house is roomy and comfortable and the best-supplied of any vacation home we've rented. Views of the lake from the enormous great room are spectacular. Alas, the weather did not cooperate (it rained nearly the whole week) so we didn't get to enjoy the lovely grounds and lake much, but the paddle boat did get out for a few spins. We played games, watched movies and cooked together and it was a great reunion. Kitchen has everything one might need to feed a big group. The French press made great coffee, but if you have a bunch of coffee drinkers you might want to bring a larger pot. Also, FYI, the crib is set up in the Master br and stays there or in the huge closet, if not needed. This required that we rearrange our sleeping plan a bit. The home was very clean and well-furnished. Working with owner, Katy, was a pleasure. She was helpful and quickly responsive to all inquiries before and during our stay. WiFi worked perfectly for all of us. Highly recommend this property.
