Retreat to your Monument Vacation Home

When you want to escape from the stresses of your daily life without being too uprooted from civilization, the best idea is to head to a Monument vacation home. You could stay in a tiny hotel room that lacks amenities, or you can treat yourself to the home-like comforts of a lovely vacation home nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. A Monument vacation home may feature impressive mountain views, a full kitchen, separate bedrooms, large living areas, a fireplace and other comforts that will help you to make your stay more enjoyable and relaxing.

Outdoor Recreation

Monument is ideally situated in a great location between Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak in south central Colorado, and it is located close to Pikes Peak, Cheyenne Mountain, the Pike National Forest and several state parks. With this in mind, you will be close to ample outdoor recreational opportunities that include everything from hiking and mountain biking to picnicking, fishing, camping and more. You will have a great time in the Rockies when you stay in beautiful Monument.

Shopping

When you visit a small mountain town like Leadville or Monument, you will find that there are ample shopping opportunities for you to enjoy. These areas and others nearby are known for their small mom-and-pop shops. In Monument, for example, there is a lovely boardwalk shopping district that has toy shops, antique stores, a Victorian tea house, a folk art gallery and other shops and venues that add to the eclectic, old world feel of the town.

Attractions

If you are up for some sightseeing while in the Monument area, you will love the wide selection of sights to see. These include the statue of General Palmer that sits prominently on a city street in Colorado Springs, the Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad, Palmer Lake, the Santa Fe Regional Trail, the hot springs in Buena Vista and Salida, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and much more. From Colorado Springs to Denver and beyond, the region is filled with much for you to see and do on your vacation.

Weather

The Denver area, including nearby Monument, has a semi-arid continental climate that is characterized by four seasons with only a moderate amount of rainfall and snowfall throughout the year. Sunny weather days dominate in the Monument area, and you can expect a mild spring and fall, a warm summer and a cold, long winter. The average high temperature in the winter is in the 40s, and the average low is in the teens. The average high temperature in the summer is in the 80s, and the average low is in the 70s. The area receives approximately 14 inches of rain and approximately 53 inches of snow each year. Keep in mind that the temperature can change drastically as you move up and down in elevation, so plan to wear layers if you are going to explore areas outside of Monument while on your vacation.

How to Get There

Getting to Monument is easy to do because of the unique location right on the Interstate between Colorado Springs and Denver. You can drive your own car to the area, and you simply drive along Interstate 25 until you reach Monument. You may also fly or take a bus into the Denver area. From there, you can rent a car to travel the rest of the way to Monument. Travel south along Interstate 25 a short distance, and you will soon arrive in beautiful Monument.

We really enjoyed our stay at this home. Our group's ages ran from 4 to 93 and we were very comfortable. It had everything that we needed and Rob, the owner was very, very accomodating.
