Beautiful apartment with views, congenial host, and excellent bikes!

                        5 of 5
We had a MARVELOUS stay at Rutger’s beautiful studio apartment. We spent our first week in an apt in A’dam & at first my partner was sad leaving the city-even though this apt is only a 12 min. bus ride back in. Once we got here, however, she did not want to leave. The apt is very sleek, roomy, & comfortable. Kitchen comes with a Nespresso machine (capsules available in all groceries) & milk frother (add hot water from kettle to make an Americano in the morning), a fridge, and induction cooking plate. A microwave might be a nice addition. Bed very comfortable with beautiful view. The garden is just terrific with seating area both at a private bistro table and chairs overlooking field. We also loved the picnic table up on the dijk. Rutger is an excellent host, providing useful info and delicious, hearty breakfast each morning. Both he and Bart are friendly & good conversationalists. Aside from the beautiful countryside location with breakfast, a real plus is the two bikes that come with the apt. They are excellent bikes, Gazelles, and it saved us a lot of $$ not having to rent. Better still, we rode more b/c we could just go jump on them— back & forth to Broek in Waterland (short ride), to Marken, to Holysloot, to Monnickendam, to Zuiderwoude. This bike-riding & stay on the dike was by far our favorite experience in our visit to Netherlands. In Broek in Waterland, The Witte Swaen in a great place for a casual meal; Het Broeker Huis for a more upscale experience (Rutger made a reservation for us). Lunch at Het Schoolhuis in Holysloot delicious, and we enjoyed some wine at Suyderwou’s Wijnloods in Zuiderwoude. Biked to all of them. We also stopped at two “Rusts” – small buildings/stops run by farmers for cyclists to stop for self-serve coffee and snacks on an honor system; restroom too. Oh that the U.S were this bike-friendly. Another highlight was the hour-long boat ride friends of Rutger's took us on through the countryside and Broek in Waterland for a reasonable price. We loved our stay with Rutger and highly recommend this apartment. You will not be disappointed. We hope to return for another stay in the future.

Great place to stay and explore the North Netherlands area.

This small cottage was just perfect for us. It was just as advertised, clean, neat, and cozy. We wanted to be able to prepare breakfast and dinner in the cottage and be free all day to visit the surrounding area. This cottage, right on a canal, worked nicely. It was fun to watch the boats cruise by and it gave us a quiet place to relax but was close to everything. There was enough room in the living area to be relax and the bed was very comfortable. Lia and George were very helpful. They had literature available for things to see and do and they were very happy to give us specific information when we needed it. We enjoyed everything about our visit.

                        Great house - great location

                        5 of 5
For anyone wanting a spotless, modern furnished house near Amsterdam but in a picturesque quaint village, this is ideal. The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly, as is the "caretaker" who lives right across the canal. The kitchen has everything you need for eating "in." The beds are very comfortable, too. The town has a small supermarket, bakeries with good breads, a delI and some excellent restaurants all within walking distance. The view from the living room is very pretty - the canal with its boats and a church with the steeple lit at night. Getting to nearby towns such as Volendam, Marken, and Edam is a snap, and with the A10 ring road that's 10 minutes away, you can get to all tourist sites easily. We highly recommend Dutch Buoy.
