          Peaceful getaway

          4 of 5
We enjoyed a long weekend at Big Pines with another family. The cabin layout worked well with the size & ages of our group (young teenagers to adults), & the cabin description & photos were accurate. We enjoyed hiking near Lake Superior & also spent time at another nearby lake within the National Forest. Andy was pleasant & great to work with, and he was quick to respond to any questions we had. We have stayed at a number of VRBO rentals over the years, & we would recommend this property for a peaceful, "up north" getaway.

          Very beautiful cabin and location.

We brought my family from Texas to your beautiful cabin for a North Shore experience in the great outdoors. Boy, did they get that, including the bugs. I'd say it is like being in the Boundary Waters but will amenities. The Hideaway Cabin is absolutely fabulous with plenty of space and a great kitchen and fireplace. We were so surprised to see this in such a remote area. It is truly in the back woods of the North Shore. We enjoyed canoeing around the lakes and floating in the water during the warm afternoons. Also enjoyed many hikes along the road and around a trail that wasn't too far from the cabin. Saw a bear near the local resort when driving through. We also had a bonfire at your wonderful fire pit and roasted marshmallows for s'mores. Loved having the chairs and tables. One day we drove to Ely to spend the day. It was only about a 30 minute drive. It was a wonderful day to spend in the town. Wish there was a grocery store closer to the cabin but we did stop in Two Harbors to shop before arriving (highly recommend that). Also recommend bringing a yard spray for mosquitos. They were aweful in June, probably due to all of the rain you got. We failed to bring one and regretted it. We were able to enjoy everything despite the mosquitos though. Wish that we could have brought our dog. He is a Bichon Frise so he is small and doesn't shed as well as very mellow. Doesn't bark and isn't overly active. Definitely wouldn't scare away any animals. Please, consider changing this policy. Thank you for your beautiful lodge!!

Cute and efficient stay! Would definitely be returning and staying longer in order to enjoy the sauna and canoe on the lake.
