Quaint house with a lot of history, very clean and comfortable!

                5 of 5
I rented this property for 2 nights in August with my brothers as we attended a family reunion in the area. The house was perfect for our needs-complete with 3 bedrooms (king, queen, full), large living room, dining room and kitchen. There was also a nice outdoor patio area with an outdoor shower! Zoe the host was very easy to communicate with and she even left us some snacks and essentials in the house. We had a great weekend and would definitely look to rent again next year!

                Very relaxing vacation

                4 of 5
We really enjoyed our vacation at the house. We had 3-4 adults and seven kids (ranging in age from 1.5-13 years) staying the property. The house is somewhat rustic but comfy. Bedrooms are very small, but the living area was more than adequate for our group. Kitchen has everything you would need to cook (except for microwave). There is a tv in the living room and another in one of the bedrooms. No TV reception as far as I know, but they had a large collection of tapes and dvds, so everyone could find something. We also uitilized the local library at great barrington to take out some more books and dvds. There is a nice collection of sports equipment in the basement, as well as some kids toys, a bunch of books from baby to adult, fishing poles, some bikes, and of course the boats (with a decent supply of life jackets). The grills are charcoal, so buy some if you want to use them. The fire pit is a nice touch if you like making fires. The lake is better for boating than for swimming. There is small clear area near the shore, but it has a lot of plant matter closer to the shore. If you're a good swimmer, further away from the shore is better, but for little kids it was somewhat of a problem. There are also beavers in the water, but those seem to show up only closer to sunset. Not too many bugs based on the location, but we did get some bites, so bring some bug spray. Shopping is close by (10-15 minutes) in great barrington. There is a also a great plaground, tennis and basketball courts (equipment available at the house) five minute drive away at French park. Overall, everyone really enjoyed our stay. I took a star off because one of the bathrooms had issues with water in the bathtub (cold water didn't work-the owner said he'll look into it) and because we ran into a problem with garbage pick-up. Also, verizon and at&t had reception, but t-mobil would not start working until great barrington (I could get roaming in French Park, but very poor reception). No wi-fi available. Overall, everyone really enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it to our friends.
