Be careful out there ...

4 of 5
Terrific apartment. Main door opens to Via Garibaldi, so from that point onward be careful. Cyclists everywhere in Ferrara, and they give themselves priority over pedestrians. You are responsible for not just straying into their path. Seriously. Other than that, Ferrara was wonderful. And this apartment places you within a half-hour walk of everything, including the train station for day trips (Venice is 1h20m away, Padua 50m, Bologna 35m). Price on this apartment is a value. It's clean, spacious, comfortable. But it can be chilly. We were there in mid-October and night temps were down into the 40s. There appeared to be a window a/c-heat unit combo, but it was impossible to figure it out. Needs some instructions. Doris, the owner, is friendly and was there soon after we at the main door. Her English is limited, and sometimes a response from her took time by text/email. We had no emergencies, but one time we did have a question about the dishwasher and it took a while. No big deal. We would stay here again without hesitation. If you are American or English, be aware that English-speaking Italians are hard to find. My wife studied Duolingo for months and I focused on the Foreign Language Institute free online manuals, so we felt comfortable with basic conversation.

Another wonderful stay at Naso di Legno

5 of 5
This was our second stay at Naso di Legno and we enjoyed it even more than the first time. My husband and I just love Ferrara and can't really imagine staying anywhere else, the apartment is beautiful and so well equipped, everything works well and the furniture and fixtures are of a very high standard, the photos are a true representation. The location of the apartment is spot on, even though it is literally steps from the action, it is in a quiet and peaceful street where you can't hear a thing. Much appreciated was the fabulous fruit bowl which kept us going for a few breakfasts and also the Prosecco which we had on our last evening, also the larder is stocked with some very nice food if you wanted to eat in. Getting to the apartment is very easy, there is a direct bus from the airport which costs €15 and stops just near the castle, then the apartment is close by. Bruno and Paola really are the loveliest hosts and live in the same building so can help you with any queries. Bruno picked us up from the bus stop and took us to the apartment and then to the train station when we left as we were travelling elsewhere. They also gave us a lovely present when we left which made it home in one piece - thank you Bruno and Paola!! We did various trips out of Ferrara, Padova was beautiful and highly recommended, we did a one night stay in Venice which is around an hour away and did the Ferrari museums in Modena and Marinello, such a great day and Bruno printed our tickets for us. The train station is a good 30-40 minute walk from/to the centre and we could never fathom the buses, so if we were tired we got a taxi. The great thing is Ferrara is very close to Bologna Centrale and from there you can go anywhere, having said that, Ferrara itself is a true gem, in the 10 days we were there we hardly heard a single English or American accent, a bit different to Venice!! You really do feel like you're in a true Italian working city, a stunning one at that, we can't wait to return. I really can't heap enough praise on this fabulous apartment and amazing city, do yourself a favour and go and stay at Naso di Legno!
