                                          Recent Miller Beach Reviews

Great house, close to beach; several areas for socializing. Kitchen exceptionally well-equipped.

                                          5 of 5
The house is clean, cute and well-cared for. The kitchen has everything you could want. Access to the house was straightforward. I didnt meet Rebecca, but she responded promptly to my communications and left several nice, personal touches such as a personalized welcome upon our arrival. There are several nice places to sit, socialize, play games etc-- even a fish tank. More tvs than any household could possibly want. 2 windowless basement rooms are decorated tastefully and comfortably. I slept in one of these and it was all good. Walk to the beach in a few blocks and the beaches are endless, sparsely populated. The swimming was great and refreshing with a unique view of industrial Gary with the Chicago skyline in the distance on a clear day. Somewhat otherwordly and just the kind of thing I like. The neighborhood was quiet and Miller is a nice place to walk or ride a bike. I have vacationed in Miller Beach several times and enjoy its low-key, ambiance with nature abounding and the city right next door. If you eat at the Beach Cafe, the cevaps (Eastern European sausage without a casing) were fabulous.

Great week on the beach with family

                                          4 of 5
Our family of 12 with 4 children, 6 and under, were here. The property is right up against the national park and we saw deer most of the mornings. All but one of the days were spent on the beach. Unfortunately the few steps to the beach was closer to 1/4 mile and with a couple of steep dunes proved to much for our troop with supplies. But the drive to the public beach was 3 blocks away and paying the $5 day parking fee made it much easier on us. The water is shallow and clear. Great for our little ones. And the goggles we found in a box of beach toys at the house let us explore the bottom.Safety was not an issue as there were police patrolling the beaches every day and a lifeguard is on duty in the afternoons (at least the days we were there). The kitchen is amazing! This is the first house we have ever rented that had pots/pans that would actually hold a doubled recipe. The island is huge but got a little snug when 2 or 3 were in there cooking. The 2 refrigerators, one on the 1st level, held our weeks supply of food. The 3 older children used the island for meals and those who couldn't get around the table used the chairs and sofa for meals. There are extra tables and chairs but we hated to use the floor space. Evenings were on the deck with music from the sound system but there are mosquitoes being so close to a pond. This house has 6 levels separated by 6-7 stairs. The bedrooms are on 4 of those levels with a bathroom. We had trouble finding someplace for the bathroom towels to dry as there is only one towel rack in each. Jim was working on a door when we arrived and returned a couple days later when we were having difficulties with the cooling system. Hilary answered every email and phone call. They were both very helpful. We didn't try any restaurants locally but it was a short trip to Merriville to the Albanese Candy Factory and an evening meal. The area around the house is run down but there are pockets of revival. And a walk down to the Marquette Park Lagoon, which is lovely, was the perfect setting for a marriage proposal. The home could use a spring cleaning, bottle caps under the sofa, and repairs need to be done but considering it is peak season, we can't imagine how difficult that is to do when people are moving in and out. The many levels were difficult for me with arthritic knees and the 22mo. who is just getting the hang of navigating steps.

                                          World-class Location & Beach House!

                                          5 of 5
This villa is beyond magnificent; our expectations were far exceeded! Hilary and her husband could not have chosen a more perfect location or built a more perfect place for our large 23 person and 2 dog annual family reunion. We really did feel like we were on top of the world directly overlooking the beach full of people and boaters, which was fun for the kids and those in the family who like crowds. However, some of our family chose to relax in the more peaceful setting on the not-so-crowded national park beach. Either way, they are next to each other and our group was only 25ft apart which made it very comfortable for everyone to be together. The house is not only beautifully decorated, but it's comfortable, user friendly, and so very full of amenities. There's nothing missing that we could have possibly wanted. Being there was like owning your own Mediterranean villa for a few days. No one wanted to leave. Our family came from Wisconsin, New York, and Nevada for this year’s family reunion and are so glad we settled on Miller Beach. The ages ranged from toddler to 79 years young and this house was fabulous for each and every one of us. The beds and bedrooms were extraordinarily comfortable and beautiful (no expense spared on bedding and furnishings). The kitchen was an awesome dream—who offers two kitchen sinks, two dishwashers, two ovens, two ice machines, and two wine cellars? Not to mention all the mini-bars all over the place. This place was made to entertain on all levels. The site was superb not only with its gorgeous views from the terraces and decks. The view of the lake and skyline were breathtaking. Sunrise soaks in the hot tub and sunset dinners on the terrace in front of the fire are memories that will be shared for years. Every picture of this house on the web is accurate, however, they did hang more art and spread more rugs and stuff. Everything is as you see it and beyond. And, an added bonus was the personal service we received from Hilary and her staff. Being a clean-freak, I was surprised about the attention to detail, especially for such a large home. We could not have had better care. It made our stay so positive in every way. We are seasoned travelers, and cannot recommend villa Santorini enough. It is worth every penny and more.
