  • Lake Manatee State Park is located just east of Bradenton. It is only about a 15 minute drive. At the park, you can go fishing from the piers or from a rental boat. Hiking and biking trails are available and nature walks are encouraged. A small swimming area is often crowded by families who want to cool off.   • The De Soto National Monument is supposedly the spot where De Soto first landed. There are trails you can take and a Visitor’s Center so you can learn more about the monument.
  • The Confederate Civil War Memorial is a plain obelisk with names of famous Confederate leaders engraved on its base. It is located at the old courthouse.

Spring and fall are short and see temperatures in the 80s. Bradenton receives about 56 inches of rain annually. Most of this rain falls during the summer months as afternoon showers hit on many days. Still, most days have sun for the better part of the day, and the showers are usually short. The best time to visit Bradenton if you are a beach lover is the summer. Otherwise, any time is really a nice time to visit the area. Those from northern climates will enjoy Bradenton’s mild winters.

The Best Ways to Get to Bradenton

Bradenton is accessible by car, and many choose to drive so they can tote all their belongings easily. Rental cars come in handy when one’s personal car is not large enough for all of their gear. Flying is another option, and the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota is only 13 miles away. Bradenton does have its own Amtrak station, however, so traveling there by train is convenient. Any way you get to Bradenton, you will enjoy your visit.
