We stayed at this property during Spring break 2016 which is the peak season and the peak week in Costa Rica. The house is phenomenal. It is evident that Ava, the owner, has put her soul into building and decorating the house. There is plenty of room in the house with big rooms. There are 2 main bedrooms on the main level, with a King and Queen bed. There is another room in the basement with 4 single/twin beds and there are a couple of sofa pull-out beds. There is also a care taker room with a bed that could be used. We didn't need all those beds as we were traveling with young children.
There are plenty of bathrooms, showers, sauna. The infinity pool and the view is amazing, however, it is not heated.
The house was easily accessible by car and nearby San Ramon had everything we needed for our week long stay.
There are a few places near San Ramon that the kids really enjoyed; Las Musas (waterfall and a swimming pool) - they also arranged a horse back riding tour for us which was awesome and we got to see 5 more waterfalls. Talk to the manager Gustavo over there.
Then about 40 minutes away from the house is the San Luis Canopy where they offer hanging bridges tour as well as zip lining. It's not the best as you'd find in La Fortuna, but considering that we didn't have to drive for 3-4 hours it was a good compromise.
Martin Rojas is Ava's local contact in San Ramon who welcomed us and was very helpful throughout our stay. He was always accessible by phone or in person to help guide us. He speaks perfect English.
In general we had a lot of fun, enjoyed the property, the privacy and overall stay and we won't hesitate to come back if Ava would have us. Note that this property is closer to San Jose more than any other popular areas such as beaches, forests and volcanoes. We knew that and discussed that aspect with Ava before booking. Most of the usual tourist places like La Fortuna (Arenal), Puntarenas, Manuel Antonio (beaches), or volcanoes were 2+ hours away on winding and single lane roads. We made those day trips on couple of days, with kids, but didn't get much out of those days. My recommendation for visiting those areas is to stay in those areas so that you don't have to drive the long distances on winding roads. Ava did recommend that we do that prior to booking. However, due to the holiday week in Costa Rica we couldn't find any places in those popular areas and honestly wanted to just make one place the base so we don't have to keep moving
