Located in central California, the highest elevation in the area is approximately 4,200 square feet, but some areas are lower than this. The temperature can vary considerably based on the elevation where you are at, but generally, you will find that the winters here are crisp and chilly with highs usually in the 50s in the height of winter. Summers can be humid and warm, and 80s and even 90s are common during the peak summer season. The best times of year to visit are in the spring and fall months when the weather is most pleasant.

How to Get There

Napa Valley is located just north of San Francisco and just west of Sacramento. You can fly into either city's major airport, and you can rent a vehicle to drive into Napa Valley. Keep in mind that buses and trains also make stops in the area. From Sacramento, you can travel south along Interstate 80, and from San Francisco, you can travel north along this same Interstate highway. Then, you can exit at Highway 12 to travel the rest of the way into Napa Valley.
