We had a family reunion and decided to make it in the Baja. A family member had been to Mulege before and suggested it as a perfect destination for all of us. My wife and I were a little skeptical going to Mexico for the first time but her brother assured us that Mulege was a safe and friendly destination. We all flew into Lorreto and made our way to Mulege. The town is beautiful in the old traditional Mexican way. I was expecting our accommodations to be rustic, but I was pleasantly surprised to find modern rooms with great beds and ac, internet, a fully stocked kitchen and all right on the river just minutes from town and the beach. The owner was friendly and very accommodating. He invited us to use his kayaks and bikes which the kids loved. We lucked out and the residents of the community we stayed in (many of them fishermen) had a fish fry and we were invited. We didn't feel like outsiders but more like members of the community. It was a rare treat to see and participate in. Everyone had a great time and my wife and I are going to return to Mulege next year. There are several different homes to rent so we are going to rent a smaller one since it will only be the 4 of us. If you want to experience old Mexico charm with American amenities, I can recommend staying at Clementines to everyone.
