                                            Gorgeous Home, Gorgeous Beach!

                                            5 of 5
We just returned from a week-long stay at Bellosguardo, a truly gorgeous home situated on Winding Bay Beach, one of the prettiest beaches we have seen (&we have traveled throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America). The photos that the owner, Elizabeth, has posted are exactly what you can expect to find when you walk in the doors of Bellasguardo. Much thought was put into the design/layout of this home, so that you have gorgeous, floor to ceiling ocean front views across the entire back of the home and beautiful garden views across the front. We traveled with our two teen kids and their room and bath room and the master room and bathroom were separated and everyone had plenty of "space" for our week together. We all found the beds to be very comfortable, and the showers have great shower heads with plenty of water pressure. As Elizabeth mentions, the island has a reverse osmosis filtration system for the water and so we used water straight out of the tap all week, for drinking and for cooking. The study areas are nice for plugging in a laptop or phone, and the kitchen is modern and well-equipped with all utensils/dishware items you might need. It was great to have a modern washer/dryer combo right in the home, so we could do a little laundry as needed. The beach is just steps away from the house& we loved sitting under the beach cabana each day! Even in the July heat, this beach receives constant, cool ocean breezes. The kayaks are wonderful... Elizabeth has left great clear directions about places to take them out (including through the "cut" to Half Sound) and we had them out every day. The beach is white sand and where the waves reach the shoreline, you'll see pinkish hues in the sand. The water is crystal clear and was as warm as bath water for us this month...wonderful! There is a nice gas grill on the front deck, and we enjoyed grilling out fresh fish (which you can bring in yourself or pick up from the local fishermen who bring it in weekdays around 1p at the pier in Tarpum Bay). Also in Tarpum Bay around dusk, we enjoyed getting fresh conch salad, something the locals prepare, and it is similar to a ceviche...delicious! There are NOT many restaurants in the Winding Bay area& no night life, just fyi. We tried Shantzii's (our fav!),Dolphin Blow Hole, &had a dinner prepared for us by Rosie, at Northside Inn Restaurant&Bar, and also drove up to Tippy's in Governor's Harbor. Rock Sound has a full grocery store&wine shop.

                                            Beautiful and Relaxing

                                            5 of 5
This was our second Spring Break trip to Eleuthera and we wanted to have our base more to the South then our Governor's Harbour stay of last year so we settled on Winding Bay in the Tarpum Bay / Rock Sound area and Gone Shelling. It turned out to be the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the stunning beauty of this part of Eleuthera. The house was a crucial component to our enjoyment. Before we arrived all the logistics were handled quickly and thoroughly by the owners and they answered many questions we had with patience and helpfulness. We provisioned the house from The Market in Rock Sound and Alice the caretaker was kind enough to handle it’s arrival so when we got there we could start our vacation immediately. The house itself sits slightly above the water so the views from all the windows capture the ever changing shades of blue as the light changes. It's one of those houses where everything seems to be exactly where it should be and was designed for enjoying the view, or cooking or star gazing. All in quiet privacy. The light streamed in from dawn until the afternoon and we always had a good cross breeze. The breezeway was wonderful for having meals. The kayaks provided were really nice ones (Necky's) great for exploring through the cut to Half Sound or going around the small cay to the South. Since we travel in Spring it can be very windy at times but the water at Winding Bay is protected so there was never a time where we couldn't get in / on the water. We would return to Gone Shelling with no hesitations because it's a perfect set up. Right on a beautiful sheltered bay. Stunning view of that bay. Everything you need in and outside the house. Great owners and local assistance. Very close to one of the best markets on the island and some of the most beautiful beaches you've ever seen. What more could ask for?

                                            The Perfect Relaxing Getaway!

                                            5 of 5
First of all, we have to stress the excellent customer service provided; they checked in with us multiple times and were very responsive & attentive! The property itself is CHARMING - a cozy little place with beautiful high ceilings, gorgeous dark hardwood and a beach theme decor. The view is gorgeous and a lovely little restaurant lies steps away from the property. Even though there is a restaurant so close to the residence, any noise generated was nicely muffled and could hardly be heard from the living room. A short walk away is a liquor store and a marketplace - everything you could need from groceries to simple ammenities (shampoo, conditioner, etc.). Every afternoon in the corner of the marketplace's parking lot, a group of men set up a fresh conch stand from the back of their truck. We soon learned that pop-up fresh conch stands were a common theme along the tiny roadsides throughout the island. The number of beaches was astounding! Not only numerous but complete with powder soft sand and water so turquoise the blue of the sky pales in comparison. Often we were the only ones on the beach and water was so clear that we could wander far from shore and still only be up to our waists. Coral reefs were everywhere and snorkeling provided a gorgeous up close view of the aquatic life. We were absolutely satisfied with this property and the owners - I recommend them to anyone that wants to experience the TRUE Bahamian life: the charm of it's roadways, brightly colored homes, local restaurants, friendly locals, & relaxed pace.
