                  Lovely apartment, lovely location

My husband and I treated our nephew and his fiance to a Munich area vacation in May 2011. We found Rosenhof in Thiersee on HomeAway and the owner was most helpful and accommodating. Since May is not a busy time in the area, we had Rosenhof all to ourselves. The housekeeper was most welcoming and helpful. We managed quite well with our pathetic German and her elementary English skills. The apartments are clean, comfortable and well equipped (although, as Americans we did wish there were hair dryers). The views from the decks and patios are superb. There is a nice pizzeria just steps away and we enjoyed croissants hot from the bakery at the end of the driveway. We also ate in a German restaurant across the lake where we had no clue what we were ordering, but it was delicious. The local grocery provided all we needed for meals and cocktails on the deck. The location on the Kufstein, Austria exit of the A12 was perfect for day trips to Munich, Salzburg, and Neuschwanstein, etc. An unplanned day in Kufstein proved to be a delight. We now wish we had left more time for Thiersee and Kufstein (home of Reidl wine glasses, a great castle, world's largest outdoor organ, Haflinger horse farm at Ebbs, etc.) English speakers: do not hesitate to get off the beaten track and enjoy the pleasures of Thiersee, Kufstein, and Rosenhof.
