Thank you so much for renting to me and the family. Your house and property are wonderful!! The accommodations were way beyond our expectations. You are also a great host! Thank you for your hospitality….especially for setting up the table for us and the eggs & wine. It was all GREAT! My family did not want to leave. In fact, we all agreed that we should have stayed one more night.
Again….thank you! I wish you the best with your awesome vacation home! We will contact you for future stays if that is ok with you.
My husband and I spent 11 wonderful days here. From the moment we arrived, I could see that it was far more than their site describes. Beautiful 2 bedroom suite with a lovely kitchen that has a stunning view of the valley. A large living room with plenty of room to just hang out and relax. Beautifully decorated. Beds were so comfortable. We were there to visit our family in the area, but it was a place you just wanted to stay and rest. So peaceful!!!! The family is so welcoming and shared fresh eggs from their chickens with us. Everything you needed was there,. I have to say I loved their wonderful place. Next time we will come and just hibernate. Ben has a wealth of information to share about the wineries, and places to visit around the area. The view from the deck at sunset is awesome. I recommend it highly!!!!!!
The pictures of this suite on the VRBO site don't do justice to what awaits you at Gentle Acres! We had the entire downstairs of this home and it was immaculate with all the things you would need for either a short or long stay. The hosts are the most friendly folks and willing to tell you where the nicest wine tasting places are, points of interest or even how to navigate the roads in this rural area. The view looking out over the valley and the sunsets over the coast range are magnificent. It was such a relaxing and quiet time here. We got to feed the chickens, have some farm-fresh eggs for breakfast, walk amongst the fir trees and just commune with nature. We would certainly recommend this home for those looking for a relaxing stay away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. The setting is very peaceful and quiet (did I say that already?), impeccably clean and the hosts are the most friendly folks we've ever encountered. We most definitely would come to this home again.
This was the 6th year that my friend and I have done an annual wine tasting week and our first visit to the Willamette Valley. I've stayed at a number of properties where the pictures look great, but the real life experience leaves you wondering what they did to enhance the photos. This was the opposite. The website pictures are good, but they do no fully capture the luxurious feel. The ceilings are high. The bedroom carpeting is plush. The beds are comfortable. You loose yourself in the leather sectional in the living room. And you can pipe your music throughout the entire suite. This is the basement of a luxury home on a tranquil farm that has been converted into a rental apartment. However, the design offers such a sense of privacy and there is just no noise to suggest there are others above you. You are in your own world to enjoy the hot tub and the views of the valley and the farms below. The Willamette Valley is filled with rolling hills, curving roads, great wineries and gorgeous views. We are planning to return for year 7 of our annual trip.
This was simply a wonderful home away from home. We could not have felt more welcome and at home. Our hosts were a delight, their daughter was a sweetheart, and their friendly cats were so much fun to watch and play with. Upon arrival we met Ben, who gave us a tour of the home, and provided us with fresh eggs from their chickens, as well as fresh picked apples from their orchard. We made frequent use of the hot tub every evening during our stay, after our numerous journeys around the local wine country and coastline. Sunset views were spectacular, the home was warm and welcoming, well maintained, and our stay was wonderful. We would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in the wine valley outside of Portland. While it is a bit remote if you plan to spend a lot of time in Portland (which we did not), it is perfectly situated in the Willamette Valley to be close to plenty of small and large wineries for tastings (which we did a lot of). And it was only about an hour drive to the beautiful Oregon coast, where you can visit the Tillamook Factory, Cannon Beach, and state parks.
Gentle Acres was beautiful inside and out. It was the perfect base to explore wine country, a trip to the ocean, the gorge and Portland. We loved enjoying evenings grilling out and watching the sun set. Fresh eggs helped start the day. We plan to return and enjoy the wonderful hospitality.
We recently spent the weekend with another couple at Gentle Acres. The apartment was all it was advertised to be. It was pristinely clean, the view was awesome, and our hosts were especially welcoming and helpful. They even provided some free wine tasting coupons. We had a wonderful, peaceful, and fun weekend.
Just off the Oregon Scenic Vineyard and Valley Tour Route and nestled in the Chehalem Mountain AVA. Close to Bald Peak State Park, Hagg Lake, 'Tree to Tree' Zip-Line Adventure Park, and over 20 world class wineries within a short 10-20 minute scenic country drive!
