Only125 steps from Lake Erie and nearly a century old, this historical house has been updated and newly furnished. Having been built in 1920, it is the second oldest house in this subdivision on Huron’s west side and it allows you to step back to a time of peaceful relaxation. The house is situated on four lots providing huge yard space in a tranquil, quiet neighborhood.
Please note: We do accept reservations for a two night stay during the summer season at the standard rate of $400 per night.
Views of the lake can be seen from the living room and dining area, as well as the first floor bedroom, the master bedroom, and the third floor. The wide verandah style front porch runs the length of the house and is perfect for taking in the view of the lake, relaxing, reading, and talking with friends and family.
The dining table seats eight comfortably and is readily accessible to the remodeled kitchen equipped with a large five-burner gas range and two ovens. A new queen size bed is on the first floor in a small room off the living room and a half bath adjoins this room.
The second floor contains the other new queen size beds. One is in the spacious master bedroom (21’x 15’), and the other is in the guest bedroom (13’ x 14’). A full size futon is located on the very large third floor (30’ x 15’).
In the full basement, you will find the one thing older than the house itself, an antique tournament size 9’ pocket billiards table that dates back to the 1880’s. A Queen Size Futon is located in the billiard room. There is also a separate laundry room with a toilet, shower, sink, & washer and dryer.
The house is so comfortable and the sound of the waves is so soothing that it will be hard to leave it to enjoy the variety of amenities offered by Cedar Point, the Lake Erie Islands, the Huron boat basin, local golf courses & wineries, Thomas Edison’s birth place (located in Milan), the Hayes Presidential Center (the first presidential library and museum located in Fremont), The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (located in Cleveland), and other nearby attractions.
The turn-off from Cleveland Road /Rte. 6 onto the Cedar Point Road (also known as The Chaucee entrance) is just two and one half miles from the house. This allows you to visit the park in the morning, return to the house for a late lunch, a siesta, or dinner and then go back to the park for the evening hours.
Please note, smoking is not allowed in the house.
This spacious home exceeded our expectations and was ideal for our group of 7 adults and 3 children. We chose it because of the location and because our grandparents once lived on the same street. This home has a peaceful vibe and it so comfortable because of the open layout, large well-equipped kitchen and abundant seating.
It is clear that the owners love this home. It is welcoming and tastefully furnished. Having two full baths, plus a powder room was great. We also loved the large dining table, the herb garden, the courtyard, the huge front porch, the parking and the quiet street.
We enjoy cooking and grilling and this was the perfect place to host a family gathering with three generations. My cousin created a "Cousins Olympics" series of games for the kids and the yard was ideal for that.
Darcy, the property manager, was helpful at check-in and check-out. The owners provided a guide with info about the home, nearby restaurants and attractions, along with suggestions for the best local dining and shopping.
The owner was pleasant to deal with and returned our security deposit promptly. We would definitely choose this home again!
Beautiful spacious clean well equipped home. We were steps from lake Erie and a short ride to Cedar Point.
This home is ranked as one of the best we've rented, the owners really takes pride in their home and it shows. My family and I are already planning for next year
My family stayed the weekend of Aug.13th - Aug. 16th. There were nine of us, 3 generations. I (Gramma) stayed in the basement. I loved it. It was spacious, and perfect because I had my own bathroom with shower, lg. counter-top space to spread out toiletries, make-up and jewelry. We were there for my daughter's wedding. She got married in Port Clinton, just about a 25 min. drive from the house, but it worked out perfectly because her house is actually only 2 doors down from this vaca rental home. The cousins could go back and forth. We had an aunt in our group who uses a cane. The first floor br. with attached 1/2 bath was perfect for her. Another aunt and her husband stayed in the master br. on the 2nd. floor, and the bride's brother and his wife stayed in the other br. on the 2nd floor. This was perfect for them as a family because the 3rd floor br. stairs leads up from this br., so their 2 little girls slept up in that br. Again, perfect. As for the rest of the house...lovely, just lovely. We had some smokers in the group, so the front porch was always in use. Sitting out there gave one such a sense of peace. The neighborhood is quaint and quiet. Neighbors are friendly, and wave and smile when they walk by. The lr. furniture was warm and inviting. There was always someone or two in the big comfy recliners. We loved the open lay-out floor plan of the main floor. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils. We had a ladies luncheon in the yard Friday, and it was nice that several ladies could be working in the kitchen at the same time, due to it's lay-out. The wedding was Sat., and Sun. was a rest and relax day at the house so Sun. afternoon we took the children down to the little private beach, and they had fun collecting colored glass and swimming. Tom and Darcy were both a pleasure to work with. Darcy was very friendly and prompt on her arrivals for check-in and check-out. All-in-all we spent much time away from the house due to the wedding activities, but when we were there, it would have been nice to watch the Packer game (Thurs. night) on ESPN, (we are from WI, but some came from GA as well for this event), however, there was just basic local channels on the TV line-up. Other than that, this house was perfect for us, and I highly recommend it for other large groups. A week later, my daughter-in-law said "I got the feeling that I could have just stayed there, to live there as my main home, it was so comfortable." I wholeheartedly agreed!
We had a fantastic stay in this house. We loved the front porch and the yard for the kids to play. The street is quiet and the kids enjoyed riding their bikes. The small private beach was perfect. We enjoyed the little town of Huron- fishing and biking. Very close to Cedar Point and to shopping areas. House was well-equipped. They had anything you could need in the kitchen, a grill, games, and DVDs. We would most definitely stay in this house again.
Spent a week here with family. Loved the house, the front porch, the yard, and the beach. It's a
great vacation area, lots to do. Tom and Darcy were pleasant and helpful. We had a great time.
My family stayed in this lovely and well furnished home over Christmas Holiday and it was the perfect family gathering get-away. The house is larger than the photos appear. My mom LOVES to cook for the family (6 adults and 3 kids) and she was blown away with the ammenities of the kitchen and how well stocked with the perfect amount of pots/pans, dishes, utensils and.. the chef oven/stove- COME ON! She was in heaven!
The kids LOVED the secret passage way to the extremely spacious and cool attic! Adults enjoyed the billiards table. We were able to walk to the lake for beautiful views (weather was warm for December) and enjoyed the parks and walking trails for light adventures.
Tom and Darcy were professional, responsive and very hospitable. We enjoyed our visit very much and would love to come back in the summer to be able to enjoy the lake and summer activities!
Cedar Point Amusement Park is just a few miles away offering a collection of world class roller coasters and other rides. The Huron boat basin provides live music, festivals, and movie events throughout the summer. Historical locations such as Thomas Edison's birth place, The Great Lakes Museum, The Hayes Presidential Center (the first presidential library, home, and museum), The Rock and Roll Hall of fame are all within a 50 minute drive. Sawmill Creek Golf course and resort is just one mile away. Kalahari Water Park/Resort and The Great Wolf Lodge are just five miles away. Ferries to Kelly's Island, Put-in-Bay, and Pelee Island are just six miles away in downtown Sandusky.
