The owners, Jeff and Rachel Mele, purchased this second home as a place for their Florida parents to stay and visit with their 3 grandchildren. The house is available as a vacation rental when not in use by the family.
Rachel Mele purchased this house in 2012
It's perfect! It has amazing views of the water and Thimble Islands. The near by restaurants are some of the best in CT! It's the perfect location for family to relax and enjoy all the seasons of CT.
The house is only steps away from Owenego Beach Club. The walk to Owenego hugs the shoreline. The family get a Membership each year to enjoy the water, activities, food, tennis and the kids love their unique playground.
We loved this house so much that I'm not sure where to begin. The house was clean, well decorated and the perfect size for my husband, me and our 2 year old. We rented this house to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. The location was great and the morning view from the bedroom window was incredible. I was up early enough to see the sunrise both mornings, breathtaking! The house is one house away from the water and within walking districts to restaurants and a few small shops. My husband and I joked that we didn't want to give this house a good review because then the secret would be out. We have rented a few houses on Home Away, but this one is truly special. We plan on going back but we're not sure when yet. Rachel and her husband were very nice and so easy to communicate with. This house is wonderful and we 100% recommend you stay there if you have the opportunity to do so.
We enjoyed our stay at this darling house. Great location for Yale University, Mystic, NYC, and more. Beautiful sunsets. Thank you!
Have been meaning to jot our impressions of this place since we stayed a few months ago - it's a testament to how righteous this little house is that I'm writing this now. The place was charming, well supplied, and warm. Fun food and music nearby as well. Thanks guys, terrific job.
We enjoyed our stay at this little house in Branford. It was right by the ocean as advertised and very comfortable. We are new to the Home Away experience and of the three places we stayed this was probably our favorite. The house was very clean and had everything one could want to make us comfortable
Everything was fairly close although, because we were there in mid October, many attractions had closed for the winter which was disappointing. We are from California and are not used the things closing for the season!! However my husband plays golf and he found golf courses so he was happy.
We tried the seafood market and ate at Lenny's --both were very good.
We would definitely recommend this home to our friends.
Excellent location! This house was very well equipped. The kitchen was well stocked with condiments, and cooking supplies. Very kid friendly, with many extras for kids to enjoy (beach toys, chairs, DVDs, etc). Great front yard for the kids to run around and enjoy. Beds were very comfortable with amazing views of the water. Beach club access was terrific. We will definitely return to this home again. Highly recommend this property.
Although we didn't have the pleasure of being able to spend extended hours at the Beach House, our four nights were as pleasurable as could be! The location is breathtaking and the ocean - calming. Even though the property is in town, there is a feeling of solitude. We enjoyed all the amenities and appreciated being able to cook our own breakfasts each day to save a few bucks. Well-supplied kitchen, super big pull-out bed in living room, and while the bathroom is small, it was very functional for our family of four. We liked being close to the train station, New Haven, Mystic, Hartford, and on our last day we left for Cape Cod, which turned out to be a pleasant, relaxed drive. We all agreed that we'd stay here again in a heartbeat. We hope to have the opportunity!
