Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

A group of 4 families visited Villa Celaje for a week in April and could not have hoped for a better trip. The house is amazing the pictures do not even come close to showing off beauty of the house and its surroundings. The house was cleaned to perfection daily. Johan the house concierge took care of everything from our transportation to the house, to stocking the refrigerator, setting up all our tours and transportation and making sure everything was perfect. He really made us feel welcome and was always there for anything we needed. We also had chef services for the week, Marlon and Mikey were amazing, the food was fantastic and it was so relaxing to not have to go out to eat or cook for ourselves. Trying to get all of us out to a restaurant would have been stressful and time consuming having Marlon and Mikey there took all that away and allowed us to sit by the beautiful pool, relax and enjoy the amazing sunsets each evening. Our experience at villa Celaje was a perfect ten amazing.

Fantastic views. Really nice touches around the house, art, fabrics, furniture. Well equipped which was a pleasant surprise for a rental. Really helpful house manager called Johann. Fun pool and deck. One of those really great experiences you'll remember forever. Thanks to all involved with Celaje.

Outstanding Residence for our Large Extended Famil

  • 5 of 5

We just returned home from Villa Celaje a few days ago and can’t wait to return. We have spent a year planning this vacation with extended family. There were seventeen in our group and the house was all that we could have imagined and more. The pictures of the house that you see when planning your trip are accurate, however pictures do not do the house or the views justice…Villa Celaje is an outstanding residence! All seventeen of us fit comfortably in the house. There was so much common area that we never felt as though we were cramped. Each evening we gathered on the deck and in the pool to watch the sunset and each one got better and better. We were at the house on New Year’s Eve and it was quite a treat watching the many firework displays from the towns/resorts below.

While the house was really magnificent, what really made our trip were the incredible were the people we met at the house. Tatiana came in every morning with a smile to do the housekeeping – she was so thorough and friendly – it felt like we were staying in a hotel. Prior to the trip we had signed up for chef service for two of our dinners, after the first dinner we asked if they could come back for a third. Michael and William were excellent! Each dinner we had was absolutely delicious and it made it much easier for our group of seventeen to dine together rather than go out. Michael did a wonderful job in the kitchen and William was outstanding with service…meeting them was a highlight of our trip!!

Finally, I had the pleasure of working with Johan to coordinate all the details of our trip. We stayed during the holiday week and because of the large amount of visitors to the area most aspects of our trip had to be booked prior to our arrival. Johan handled everything from transportation to/from San Jose, groceries for the house upon arrival, car rental, excursion reservations, restaurant reservations and the private chefs. Coordinating a trip for seventeen people ranging in ages from 22-70 was quite daunting, but having Johan’s help made the trip seamless! There was not one glitch or issue that came up during our time there. Johan was extremely responsive in the planning process and every one of our excursions that he booked was perfect. Our group did whitewater rafting, surf lessons, zip-lining and a sunset sail. We can't wait to return!!

Simply Spectacular

  • 5 of 5

To celebrate a 45th anniversary, we stayed at Villa Celaje for one week in July with our two children, spouses and grandchildren. The villa lived up to and exceeded our expectations in every way.

Celaje is the Spanish word for sunset and we arrived the first night just in time for a beautiful sunset over the Pacific Ocean. The villa had large floor to ceiling windows and doors and the views from every direction, day or night, were outstanding. And the villa itself was beautiful, well laid out, clean and well maintained. We all fell in love with it from the youngest to the oldest.

The staff were very accommodating and we wanted for nothing. Tatianna kept the villa clean and even did our laundry. Johan handled any request we had with ease and made us feel cared for. And we were more than pleased to have Michael as our private chef each evening. His skills were evident from the first night and we enjoyed each and every dinner. He even baked a birthday cake for our youngest traveler who turned five while in Costa Rica. Thank you everyone!

While at Villa Celaje we toured Manual Antonia with a private guide, Roy, we did the suspension bridge tour at Rainmaker park, went on a catamaran tour with Iguana Tours, did an all-day fishing excursion, an adventure tour, and did zip lining with El Santuario Tours. While each of the ours were unique in every way, the highlight was our zip lining adventure. Our children voted to do this adventure again and we went a second time on our last day at Villa Celaje.

I don't know how we managed it all but each day we had time to spend several relaxing hours at and in the infinity pool at the villa. What a beautiful pool! Even the squirrel monkeys seemed to enjoy the pool area the day they visited us. What a delight to watch them.

All in all, I can't say enough positive things about Villa Celaje and Costa Rica and wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this to family or friends. It was a trip that will be remembered for a lifetime.

The property was wonderful

  • 4 of 5

The home was beautiful and Johan the concierge was really good. We had chef's come in and cook for us and he arranged all the activities. We even had massage therapists come to the house to have massages on the balcony. The pool is beautiful and the views are just amazing.

If i had to complain about anything is that its a 3-5 minute cab ride to do anything. The concierge (Johan) usually arranged it and it was pretty easy but its not walking out to the beach or to the town. Its about $10 per ride to the city and back.

I would definitely stay in this home again and would recommend anyone to do the same.

One of Costa Rica's premier tourist destinations, Manuel Antonio National Park, combines natural primary and secondary forests, exuberant wildlife, and pristine beaches in one amazing location on Costa Rica's Pacific coast, only seven kilometers south of Quepos.

Manuel Antonio's distinctive Cathedral Point takes center stage in the many breathtaking vistas that punctuate the winding drive between Quepos and the National Park entrance. Cathedral Point was once actually an island, but thousands of years of geological action connected it to the mainland with a natural land bridge.

Both inside and outside the park there are a series of small half-moon beaches and bays surrounded by luscious rainforest: Playa Espadilla Norte, Playa Espadilla Sur, Playa Manuel Antonio, Playa Puerto Escondido and Playa Playitas, all of them safe for swimming and great for diving.

The area, which encompasses 1,700 acres of land mass and 135,905 acres of marine reserve, was declared as National Park due to its abundant flora and fauna, and especially because of being the last remaining habitat of the unique squirrel monkey (mono tití), endemic to this region. Other of the species that attract both naturalists and regular tourists are white-nosed, two-toed and three-toed sloths, iguanas, raccoons, white-faced and howler monkeys.

Among the birds is common to observe: “tucancillos” (Fiery-billed Aracary), brown pelicans, laughing falcons, black-collared hawks, green kingfishers and northern jacanas. Among the flora outstand the bully tree, the cedar, the locust (surá) the black locust and the cow tree, as well as 44.5 acres of mangrove swamp with three species: black mangrove, red mangrove and buttonwood mangrove. Costa Rica's ancient pre-Colombian societies inhabited the area around Manuel Antonio and their tidal turtle traps are still visible.
