About Michael Cunningham
After year's of traveling through Asia and Europe, Costa Rica was my first travel through the Americas. I quickly fell in love with the people and the incredible beauty of Manuel Antonio, purchasing an estate as my home-away-from-home in 2006. I now own a few homes in Manuel Antonio and manage several others so can help you find the best home to fit your exact needs. I have recently moved to Manuel Antonio full time, but do spend much time in my home town of Chicago.

Amazing milestone birthday celebration!
If I could rate this house, property, and staff more than five stars I would. The house is breathtaking with amazing views of the ocean and the mountains. You feel like you’re on top of the world! The detail that was not overlooked in the house design really makes it work for a large group. We spent many evenings coming back to the property to watch the sunset from the pool, grilling food, and using the outside bar. Absolutely gorgeous! We were awaken by monkeys, toucans, and scarlet macaws flying in the valley. Michael was very easy and professional to work with answering any questions we had. He got us in touch with Johan prior to our trip who was absolutely amazing in helping us arrange activities for our large group renting two houses on the property. He assisted with the delivery of groceries, and arranging a chef for a birthday dinner celebration. If we needed anything, he was available and always willing to help and such a pleasure. I couldn’t have pulled off organizing this trip for my friends and family without his help. We will definitely return as this was our second time staying at this property. The Manuel Antonio area offers a little bit of everything for everyone. Everyone enjoyed their stay and raved about Johan, the property, and the staff on site.
Beautiful Villa with beautiful views
This villa was perfect for our family of 16, ages 11 - 79. It was spacious and beautifully maintained, with gorgeous views of the forest and the ocean. The house concierge, Johan, was by far the best of the best. He attended to our every need, including getting medical help for an emergency situation. He made sure that every excursion was executed on time and that transportation to and from the airport went smoothly.
Our chef, Micki, and his wife, Elizabeth, were incredible. Every dish was delicious, and he made sure that our grandson, who is allergic to peanuts, and others who were gluten and dairy free, had options that were just as delicious. He checked with us every morning to see if there were any changes we wanted them to make to the menus. The grandchildren loved their non-alcoholic daiquiries and the freshly made tortillas with salsa and quacamole every day before dinner. Micki and Elizabeth made our vacation truly memorable, and they did it with beautiful smiles. We felt we had left a part of our family behind when we departed. The housekeeper, Kathereen, was always upbeat and kept the villa clean and our linens fresh.
This villa is everything you need for a wonderful vacation.
Absolutely the most stunning place to stay
We rented Villa Celaje and Villa Anaka for our wedding week in Costa Rica. It was absolutely perfect place to get married. The views are gorgeous and we all enjoyed watching the beautiful Macaws and Toucan each morning in our front yard. Not only is the house spectacular, modern, clean and beautifully decorated but the house staff is amazing. Johan helped plan every detail of our trip so everything ran smoothly. Ingrid helped coordinate all my wedding details so I had a stress free experience and Marlon arranged for his chefs Mike and Jorge to cook all our meals. Every meal was amazing and with wonderful service. They treated us all like we were family while we were there making the trip magical!
A place like no other...
A palatial estate sitting high above the Pacific. breathtaking reviews of the ocean, jungle, and mountains. Seamless vacation from start to finish. Initial contact was with Mr. Cunningham who provided all the necessary information regarding the property. Deposits and payments were made securely. Concierge (Johan) then contacted us and answered every question immediately via e-mail. Johan had the house stocked per our request, and was available 24/7 for our questions, needs, and advice. The Villa itself was one of the most spectacular estates I've ever visited. The square footage, the amenities, the art work, the views, and the layout was beyond description. The pictures do not do this Villa justice, it has to be seen and experienced. The chef services (Julio) were comparable to eating at a 5 star restaurant. From the preparation, cooking, serving and cleaning up was excellent. Lastly, the daily services of Tatiana in keeping this palace clean was top notch. She worked 7 hours a day, without being seen, keeping the Villa spotless and clean. Villa Celaje is THE place to stay in Manuel Antonio, Quepos.
What an experience!!! The house was beautiful, the views were spectacular and the staff was outstanding. Everything was perfect and could not have been any better. Johan our concierge came through on everything. Mikey our chef was as good if not better than any restaurant chef in any major city, being from New Orleans, living in Houston and traveling around the world I take pride in knowing my food. Every excursion Johan lined up for us was on time and amazing! This was an adventure trip for my 50th and 4 other couples were equally amazed with everything provided. Can't wait to come back and do even more adventures. In fact, I have been showing pictures and telling all my friends that they need to stay at Villa Celaje!!!!!! Thanks for great times and memories to last a life time!!!!
This home is better than expected in every way. It is beautiful, spacious, private and easy to live in. We are a multigenerational family of 14, who had plenty of room for everyone. The pool was large enough,as were all the rooms.
We highly recommend hiring Wow Chef Services. They were worth every penny.
One of Costa Rica's premier tourist destinations, Manuel Antonio National Park, combines natural primary and secondary forests, exuberant wildlife, and pristine beaches in one amazing location on Costa Rica's Pacific coast, only seven kilometers south of Quepos. Manuel Antonio's distinctive Cathedral Point takes center stage in the many breathtaking vistas that punctuate the winding drive between Quepos and the National Park entrance. Cathedral Point was once actually an island, but thousands of years of geological action connected it to the mainland with a natural land bridge. Both inside and outside the park there are a series of small half-moon beaches and bays surrounded by luscious rainforest: Playa Espadilla Norte, Playa Espadilla Sur, Playa Manuel Antonio, Playa Puerto Escondido and Playa Playitas, all of them safe for swimming and great for diving. The area, which encompasses 1,700 acres of land mass and 135,905 acres of marine reserve, was declared as National Park due to its abundant flora and fauna, and especially because of being the last remaining habitat of the unique squirrel monkey (mono tití), endemic to this region. Other of the species that attract both naturalists and regular tourists are white-nosed, two-toed and three-toed sloths, iguanas, raccoons, white-faced and howler monkeys. Among the birds is common to observe: “tucancillos” (Fiery-billed Aracary), brown pelicans, laughing falcons, black-collared hawks, green kingfishers and northern jacanas. Among the flora outstand the bully tree, the cedar, the locust (surá) the black locust and the cow tree, as well as 44.5 acres of mangrove swamp with three species: black mangrove, red mangrove and buttonwood mangrove. Costa Rica's ancient pre-Colombian societies inhabited the area around Manuel Antonio and their tidal turtle traps are still visible.
