Our family group of 6 just got back from this cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was plenty of space for all of us, and we really enjoyed the quiet, clean atmosphere there. After being out at Hershey or sightseeing, it was nice to come back to a cool and quiet cabin with room to spread out. There are plenty of towels for 6, and the kitchen is well stocked. The deck out back is amazing (though it was so hot that we didn't get to enjoy it much) and the pond is full of frogs. The kids loved listening to and observing them. The owner, Jim, is so kind and available. We left a pretty important item at the cabin, and he had called us in just a short amount of time to try to determine how to get it to us ASAP. Thankfully, we hadn't left town yet, and we were able to stop back by and get it. Also, there was a threat of major storms with power outages in the area, and he brought us some battery lights just in case. He also came and replaced a light bulb for us when we asked. I think he would take care of any issue in a timely manner. Also, his cat, Butch, became our son's away from home best kitty buddy!
If you are there, stop by Pineview Dairy which is minutes up the road! The ice cream is amazing! We wish we could've been there more! They also have milk and other treats. This cabin is about 20 minutes from Lancaster, and you get to travel some awesome back roads to see quite a few Amish farms and beautiful homes, and a covered bridge. If you want to eat a lot, there is so much local, wonderful food. We didn't eat anything that didn't please. We would recommend this trip!
We enjoyed having all the comforts of home after our long days out and about in Lancaster. We would recommend Jim's place to those that want to be away from the noise and main drag of Lancaster. But close enough to enjoy all it has to offer.
We had a very good stay at Jim's place. We initially planned on a tourist weekend near family, but not letting them know we were nearby so we could explore without obligations. Circumstances changed with our PA family (illnesses) and we called Jim to change our reservation to include mom so she could see her brother and nephew. He didn't hesitate to agree! We so appreciated that. We enjoyed the house...plenty of space to spread out and very comfortable. Oh, and so quiet! Just what we needed. Thanks so much-we will definitely look into returning another date.
Owner was very accomodating. The property is very pretty and private. The back deck area is awesome with a cool frog/turtle pond. The house was clean and fully furnished. The AC was ice cold and a blessing during the hot summer days. Thanks for the great experience!
We really enjoyed staying here. I absolutely loved the back deck. We spent many evenings and early mornings watching the deer and squirrels. It was peaceful and relaxing. We attended the Sight and Sound theater and ate at the Hershey farm restaurant which was only about 15-20 minutes away. A great evening with dinner and a play that were right next to each other. It was about the same distance to the reproduction of the Biblical tabernacle which was very interesting. We also took a long day trip to Philadelphia which was about 1 hr 45 minutes away. So, many things to do and see. The house was nice, clean, and comfortable. I had absolutely no complaints and would recommend this home to anyone.
Our family just got home from a wonderful relaxing 5 day stay at this great place! The home, the yard, and the entire area were so great that we changed our plans from activities in Hershey to spend time exploring and enjoying here. We went tubing at Sickmans Mill (great friendly people and such clean facilities) ,Visited Pineview Dairy several times, and did an Amish buggy ride at Abes. Each evening we came home played games in the yard and built a fire. The kids and I really enjoyed every moment here. We cannot wait to come back.
Only minutes away from major outlets , Strasburg railroad and museum , Dutch Wonderland and Sight and Sound Theater. About an hour away from Hershey Park and Longwood Gardens. Less than 2 hours away from Gettysburg battlefield.
