Honfleur Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom, separate WC, sleeps 2-3 people

Very comfortable one bedroom self-catering apartment that accommodates 2 or 3 guests. The flat is ideally situated in the very historic heart of Honfleur, offering postcard views over the most photographed harbor of Northern France; from the living room, you will be able to enjoy your meals while watching the boats passing by. The flat is sunny and bright throughout the day; the rising sun in the living room; in the early afternoon, the sun shines in the bedroom, ideal for a nap!; in the afternoon, the sun lights up the kitchen for the preparation of your evening dinner.

The apartment is located on the second floor in a 17th century building with lots of character (timber in the stairs and slates on the front ( typical of Honfleur craftmanship) that has been recently refurbished. Also, It provides the latest mod cons and hifi equipment for a relaxing break -including international sat- HD TV/radio, dock station for smart phones and double glazing.

To enjoy your night, the king size bed (140*200cm) and its mattress have just been upgraded to a 4-star luxury quality.

For a French person like myself (Nathalie, the owner), food is essential to the French way of life. The reason why my kitchen is as well-equipped as yours at home; nothing is missing, you will really be able to cook like a CHEF!

From a touristic point of view, Honfleur is one of the most visited historical towns of France, dating back from the Middle Ages and there is plenty to enjoy from shops, art galleries, restaurants, artisan bakeries and 'charcuteries'. All of them are at the foot of the building (your car is useless). Be sure to visit the famous churches and museums, or perhaps explore the picturesque villages within the lovely countryside of the 'Pays d'Auge' with its stud farms and numerous thatched Norman houses surrounded by apple orchards.

Just 10 miles away from Honfleur, you will reach Deauville with its casino, beach and race track.! Etretat and its famous cliff is one hour away without forgetting the landing beaches that are 1 hour 30 away.

All the maps and necessary touristic information are to be found in the flat and I (the owner) will be delighted to help you with any more information if you wish so. The tourist Information Center is just 2 minutes'walk from the flat!

Last but not least, an underground secure parking (8 minutes'walk from the flat) is available on arrival with a supplement.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great spot to explore Normandy

  • 5 of 5

Three things stand out:

1) Outstanding host. Nathalie could not have been nicer, more helpful or accommodating. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with her. She went out of her way to make the apartment feel special, such as fresh flowers and chocolates. Other hosts we've met, or who were incognito, could learn a few things from Nathalie.

2) Location. Honfleur is the perfect small town on the coast if the English Channel. Others towns are mentioned as good places to explore the WWII beaches, but while Honfleur is not the closest, we visited the other recommended places and I'm glad we chose to stay there. It's attractive and compact. Plenty of tourist-type restaurants, many of the them quite good, or you can visit the local butcher or fish merchant, all within walking distance, and cook for yourself.

3) The apartment. Yes, much like just about every other apartment in France, access is up a spiral staircase. But as staircases go, it's not bad. My wife and I are both in our 60s and we were not challenged. Still, I know it can be an issue for some people. Beyond that, the apartment is very comfortable and relaxing. Open, airy, with out-of-the-park views of the harbor - just the kind of place you want to come back to after a day a sight seeing.

During our five-week stay in France, Nathalie and this apartment are at the top of the list of our experiences.

So, the next time we're in Normandy, this is where we'll stay.

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Me and my partner had a wonderful time in Honfleur, which was made all the better by the great location and view from this apartment. Everything was as described and we received a warm welcome from the owner Nathalie, who even took us to a nearby, free car park so we had somewhere safe to park and brought us back so that we didn't have to carry our luggage. Overall, a perfect place that suited our needs.

Experience of a Lifetime!

  • 5 of 5

We were a senior couple from USA & stayed at this apartment for a week. It was the best experience of our 3 week trip to France! Its hard to imagine a better location in beautiful Honfluer - right in the middle of the action with eye popping views of the harbor and a charcuterie, patiseries, boulangerie, wine/cheese shop, and more, just steps away, and yet the apartment was not the least bit noisy. Comfortable furniture and bedding, super hot shower, hot towel rack, and the perfect size for 2. If you want to cook, everything is close by and, because Nathalie is a cook herself, the kitchen is very well equipped. We didn't have to buy any spices, oils or paper products during our stay. She even supplied the coffee. Nathalie is so helpful and accomodating you'll think you're staying at a freind's place. With tons of restaurants, shops, galleries, and fascinating people, Honfluer has to be the very best spot to use as a base to fascinating Normandy, France. One word of caution, the apartment requires a hike up 40 narrow steps. (We used them to "earn" our daily ice cream fix) Did I mention the apartment is over an ice cream shop? Oh, my - you MUST do this!

Lovely Apartment - Beautiful Town

  • 5 of 5

We've just returned from a week in the apartment and it was everything that that the description had promised. The apartment itself was extremely comfortable, well-appointed and spotlessly clean, and the location was brilliant. (It was humbling to be able to look out of the window to see the views over the harbour that draw so many painters and photographers to visit Honfleur.) Nathalie was a helpful, supportive, and unobtrusive host, and communicated extremely well, before and during our stay.

All the local residents and shopkeepers we met seemed to be very friendly, and although the area around the apartment is teeming with restaurants, the apartment itself was lovely and quiet. (As an observation, the restaurants around the harbour itself seemed to be a little bit too "touristy", but there were plenty of better alternatives in the town itself, and we particularly enjoyed a couple of meals at the Relais des Cyclists.)

We can thoroughly recommend this apartment!

Cozy, Front Row View on Light and Water

  • 5 of 5

I kept taking photos of the harbor. You'd think five or ten might be enough but no, the light kept changing. And the water's reflection of the light. And the carousel over on the corner and the boats leaving and the boats coming and the people watching and... well. You know. After a while I stopped trying to take photos and just sat next to the open window. I see why artists fell in love with this place.

The apartment is small but well laid out. The kitchen had everything one needed to prep good, local food. The stairs are appropriate for a building of it's century which is to say watch your head and your step but very much part of the charm. The WiFi was out of sorts when we arrived but our host made sure it was working before she left.

The apartment overlooks the main road through town so it can be a bit noisy in the summer weekend evenings but everyone settles down soon enough. This was a perfect place to experience the light and the deep history of Honfleur. We were glad we came.

Owner's Response: Bonjour Bill & Anitra, I thank you for your helpful and positive comments. I just would like to comment upon the noise you experienced on 21 June. That night, every year during the first day of Summer in France and also throughout Europe, there is "la Fête de la musique". There are music and concerts everywhere; Honfleur is no exception. Otherwise, Honfleur is still a quiet place and my flat, despite its prime location, is pleasant to live inside either in Summer or in Winter. As regards the Wifi box, it was just unplugged when you arrived. It was my mistake!!!! Au plaisir de vous revoir, Nathalie

Rooms with a View

  • 5 of 5

Wow...If you love to people watch this really is the place for you! From the lounge windows you can see the whole of the Harbour and have a far better view than any of the quayside restaurants. Honfleur really is a charming place and Nathalie the apartment owner is really keen to ensure that you make the most of your stay, giving us lots of information and ideas for extra places to add to our itinerary. During our stay, unfortunately the washing machine broke down. The very next day Nathalie had a new one purchased and installed..now that's what I call great service. The stairs are quite steep, but you do get used to them if you are reasonably fit they shouldn't be a problem and they are after all part of what add to the charm of the wonderful historic building that the apartment is in. Nathalie was also exceptionally kind helping me with some family research that I was doing....Thank you for making our stay in Honfleur so memorable.
