Overview

About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom (sleeps 2)

Don't want to spend the night in a cold wet tent? But... don't want to break the bank either? We completely understand.

That is why we added this economy cabin to our options. You will get clean dry private accommodations without the cost of the other cabins in the area. and best of all... NO TENT to deal with.

This is a one room cabin that is best for two people.

There is a small refrigerator, microwave, and one burner hot plate for your food fixing.

There is an electric fireplace for heat and shade and 3000 ft elevation for cooling.

The bed is a comfy queen size sofa bed.

There is also a complete bath inside the cabin with toilet sink and shower.

Outside there is a picnic table and fire pit coming soon, so that you don't have to give up the advantages of camping.

You have never had a better place to camp for this price!

About Kent & Cynthia

I am a west Virginia resident for 26 years. I live in the Seneca Rocks area and love sharing the beauty of the area with others.

Kent & Cynthia purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Kent & Cynthia chose West Virginia

This property was built because all of the nice secluded places to stay in the area are above 100.00 per night. I know times are hard for some people that do not like sleeping in a tent so this was made to provide a great place for those kind of people.

What makes this cabin unique

Small, clean and cozy. Inexpensive. Close to lots of the best of West Virginia's most scenic area.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is lovely. Still looks brand new inside. Has all basic needs covered. Perfect place to get away from it all. The 15 minute drive to the observation tower is worth it. Kent and Cynthia were very responsive. I would definitely come back! The only drawback was the sofa bed. It wasn't very comfortable. Next time, I would bring my own air mattress or just sleep on the coach. Overall, very secluded. A great stay!

Highly recommended, beautiful piece of property. Loved my stay

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommended beautiful cabin. This cabin is quaint but has all the amenities needed for a wonderful stay. Probably the most cleanly cabin I've ever stayed in. Very remote and secluded yet close enough to all the great fishing holes. Thanks a lot I'll definitely be back.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was much more than I expected. It was clean, well taken care of, had a fire pit, BBQ grill and a mini fridge! Would happily stay here again.

Beautiful Private Cabin in the woods. Clean. Cozy. Comfortable. Affordabe

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was everything we needed! Definitely only enough space for 1-2 people. The cabin was clean, private, quiet, away from major roads, had great heat and electricity, but close driving distance to all major attractions. Owners were very nice people every time we spoke on the phone! Couldn't ask for a more perfect experience. The cabin is in no way "roughing it" but you're in the woods. You have lights, heat, restroom, coffee machine, pots and pans. Definitely nicer than some hotel rooms i've been in. There are also two other cabins nearby that are a little bigger and could fit more people.

You should definitely consider the "Via Ferrata" hike at Nelson Rocks (less than 10 minute drive from cabin). Great experience, beautiful views, cool people, and they have free wifi in their lobby!

*The only issue we had was the lack of Cell Phone Service for Verizon wireless in the region. We eventually found out that we could get cell Service 30 minutes away on Rt 33 in Petersburg or an hour and a half away on Rt 33 in Virginia.

Our lack of cell service was initially a problem for us because we were detoured en route due to a police road block in Virginia. We got in to town way later than expected and from a different route than we initially planned (and hence kind of lost our initial driving bearings). We lost cell phone service an hour and a half away in Virginia but somehow our phone GPS still guided us to the given address (something on Riverton Rd). The given riverton road address was NOT the address of the cabin and we felt a little lost at first and had no way to make a call or renavigate the GPS. We eventually were able to find the Gateway Diner and navigate to the cabin from there (using directions previously emailed from the owners). My suggestions to avoid this issue. 1) Be aware of the lack of cell service. 2) Print out and/or screen shot all of your iphone/gps directions ahead of time while you have service. 3) Try to get in town before it's dark so you can navigate easier and stop anywhere that might be open for help. 4) Once you get a feel for the main landmarks and the major roads the area is not difficult to navigate.

Thanks again for hosting us, we would certainly love to return! :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for the honest and detailed review. The part about the phone and GPS issues is definitely a problem in this area. I highly recommend doing exactly what you mentioned... print or screen shot the documents you will need before you leave Virginia if you are coming from the east. We hope you can come again sometime!

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying at our cabin and for your honest feed back. Hopefully the sofa bed will not keep you from coming back again. Remember we have 2 other larger cabins with Queen beds!:)

The Weekend of a Lifetime

  • 5 of 5

We are very thankful to the owners for this luxurious vacation in the mountains! This small cabin perfect for two had everything we needed and much more! The firepit and charcoal grill were especially handy to have. The cabin's location was right below one of the grandest attractions of WV, Spruce Knob! One top of that, the Gateway Restaurant provided us tasty affordable meals when we became tired of our picnic food! We highly recommend to all couples this cozy little forest cabin.
