Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 5)

Hale Huna('Hidden House')is a wonderful cottage on a hillside near the 'end of the road' on North Kauai. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac with only a few other local houses. Very private and peaceful (It is NOT on/near the highway like many Kauai rentals). Perfect for a meditative getaway or honeymoon cottage. Healing and restful.

Beautiful views of green mountains from backyard. Lush plant life, including mango, banana, grapefruit, avocado, papaya and lime trees. Outdoor shower sheltered by bamboo bushes. This is a small but charming and tastefully furnished plantation-style cottage with the feel of 'real' Hawaii. Within five minutes drive of gorgeous sandy beaches, incredible snorkeling at Tunnels, Ke'e and Lumahai Beaches and world class surf at Hanalei Bay.

The closest town is charming Hanalei, which has restaurants, a grocery store, a health food store, shops, bars and more. Hanalei Bay is famous for its large crescent beach, winter surfing and calm summer waters. The stunning Na Pali Coast is just minutes away (the mountains seen from the backyard are the back of the Pali's/Mountains).

The North Shore of Kauai is known for its lush, tropical, rainforest-like climate and vegetation and low key lifestyle. It's a fantastic place to relax, read, swim, hike, surf, snorkel, eat fresh fish and my favorite, just walking on the beach looking for shells.

About Kristi Ferraro

We are a family of 4, who live in Avon, Colorado. We feel so blessed to be able to enjoy the contrasting beauty of the Colorado mountains and the tropics of Kauai. Our two sons feel pretty lucky that they get to ski at home and play in the ocean in Kauai.

Kristi Ferraro purchased this house in 2007

Why Kristi Ferraro chose Hanalei

We always found ourselves being drawn back to the North Shore of Kauai, so we decided to take the plunge and buy a place. We couldn't believe that we found such a cute, vintage cottage. It truly feels like the Kauai I remembered from my first visit as a young kid in 1971.

What makes this house unique

We love eating the fruit from our yard and getting to know our local neighbors. We spend almost every day at the beach. We can hardly believe that some of the most dazzling places in the world are just a few miles from our cottage: Hanalei Bay, Tunnels Beach, the Napali coast, Ke'e Beach, the Kalalau Trail and Lumahai Beach.

It has a private yard, patio, and a refreshing outdoor shower. Pick bananas, avocados, mangos, guava and tropical flowers right from the garden. This is a special retreat for those who want to get away from it all.

Absolute gem, totally blown away

  • 5 of 5

We can't wait to come back! Beautiful and quiet, had everything we needed. This is the best rental we have had and totally lucked out. We had never been to Kauai before and new we wanted something quiet and away from the tourism spots. This was it! After checking out other spots on the island, we just kept wanting to come back to just hang out near the house. Great hiking and adventure spots near by. Next time we will mostly stay on the North Shore only and will definitely be trying to book this house again. Much thanks to the hosts!

Magical Kauai cottage it truly is

  • 5 of 5

This place is truly amazing and magical! The home is comfortable, charming, and homey. The kitchen is well stocked. (We ate in as much as possible.) the rooms are comfortable and the fans keep the air moving for the best nights sleep EVER! Out door shower was a hit. Perfect for rinsing off after a day at the beach. We felt lucky to share the home with the house geckos, and to be surrounded by an amazing yard with fresh food. The crowing for the chickens are very entertaining and something you get used to quickly. The home is close to many great beaches and we tried to see them all. Kristi's information packets was truly helpful, not only for the best beaches, but for grocery stores and restaurants. We highly recommend this home!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hale Huna! We're already planning our return!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Hale Huna. Such a beautiful and well appointed home. We wanted for nothing as the home had everything we needed, we could have stayed forever. The tender care that has been taken of this home provided us with a peaceful and relaxed vacation and so close to many quiet pristine beaches.

A Magical Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here so much. The house is beautiful and the yard is stunning and mostly private. We are grapefruit picked right from the tree in the mornings and enjoyed sitting out on the patio for our meals. And be sure to take an outdoor shower. Trust me. Once you do you'll wonder why you ever showered indoors before. It's an easy drive to Hanalei and the beaches and shopping there or to Ke'e beach in the opposite direction. And pretty close to Kapa'a for shopping too. It's about an hour to Lihue and about 2 hours to Waimea Canyon so even day trips are easily accessible. Everything you need is here and the house was well stocked with kitchen basics, salt and pepper and oil for example (which our last VRBO properties we stayed in did not have). Stay here and you will not be disappointed!
