As was previously revealed, The Meaden Family had reached a decision to sell this magnificent property. The sale was completed in November, 2015. The Meaden Family no longer owns this property, and has no ability to hold out that it may be rented either through this website or at all. We will be contacting directly all who enquired about rental next summer. We wish to thank all of our previous guests. We owned this lovely home for 48 years... it was a great run. Best to you all.
Our family has been coming to Glen Lake since the 1940s. This home has been a family gathering point and sanctuary since we acquired it from M/M Harford Field, the architect and builders, in 1967. The house contains many memories and treasures. We are constantly striving to update, upgrade, and improve the property and the experience. We hope you have enjoyed your stay and will share with us your thoughts and constructive comments. Most importantly, we hope you will consider returning again.
Be Safe. Be well. The Meadens.
What a fabulous week we had. We filled your journal with the many varied adventures and exploits we enjoyed while staying at the nicest cottage on Glen Lake. Swimming at your beach or down at the bluff, walking to town or on some of the wonderful trails, climbing the Sand Dunes and hiking toward Lake Michigan, sight-seeing by car, buying wonderful produce at the Farmer's Market, visiting the art galleries and splurging on an exquisite piece, getting pies at the Rotten Tomato, running to the Homestead and back, biking around the lakes, fishing in Little Glen and in Fisher, shopping in town, in Traverse, and in Suttons Bay, an afternoon at Good Harbor Bay, many Clue, Life, Checkers, and Battleship contests, boating on the most beautiful lakes in Michigan, collecting rocks and shells, a campfire, star-gazing, meals at Boondocks, Art's, and breakfast at the Foothills--so much to do, and so much fun doing it. Your place is just fantastic. I truly hope that it will be preserved as it is. We all just loved it. (Ages 64, 62, 37, 33, 32, 7, 6, and 3). And it was perfect for us. We truly marveled at your place—everything about it is just right. Our kids and grandkids all want to go back again some day—so, let us know when you're scheduling things so we can put our deposit in early! Thank you to you and to your family for helping us have an unforgettable vacation, filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
My retired husband, daughter and family (husband, 3 and 9 year old) and son (grad college student) and myself all had a fabulous week. While different age groups, there is something for everyone at the Lake House or around Glen Arbor. The owners were great. The home is perfect in every way - new carpet would be a plus which I hear is a 2015 goal - as it has everything a family needs. Location is awesome, view from the home perfect, fire pit, yard, pier - just everything!
Thank you for a spectacular week at an amazing house that immediately charmed us. Glen Lake was the highlight of our summer. The owners are extremely hospitable – providing information in advance, answering questions, and truly opening their home. You can feel right away that the lake house is a cherished family tradition. The 4 bedrooms being split between two separate “wings” of the house made this an ideal space to share with Grandma and the kids. The owners have managed just the right balance between upgrading parts of the house that need modernizing, while leaving enough alone to keep the house feeling like it probably did in the ‘50s and ‘60s. We hope to come back!!
This Glen Lake home is rich with history, panoramic views, expansive lot and caring owners. From the time I booked until our departure the owner was in regular contact with me to ensure that I had information about what the area offered as well as what I needed to know about the home. We were greeted with beautiful flowers and a bottle of wine, as well as a call from the owner to make sure we were comfortably settling in. This home has unmatched character. Glen Lake is like the Caribbean.....clear, sandy bottoms, and the view is stunning. The home offers many outdoor seating areas so you always have an option of sun or shade. We loved evening fires next to the lake where we watched the moon light up the water. Glen Arbor is an easy walk or bike ride from this location. We've rented other homes in Glen Arbor and on Lake Michigan, and this absolutely is our favorite. We would recommend it without reservation. Dale & Mary Rosser, Cadillac, Michigan
The location of the home is perfect. Everything pictured and described in the listing was just the way we found it.
The owners send information via email well in advance of vacation dates, which proves helpful in acquainting the visitor with this specific property.
The owner has also prepared in a booklet with ample information for a newcomer's introduction to the area along with supplying many brochures featuring local attractions and specific calendar events for the year. Anyone should feel "at home".
Don't miss the Meaden's "coffee table" book on the table in the corner of the living room that describes many of the area's summer homes including the Lake House and its history!
Vacationing in the atmosphere of the Lake House with its amenities and location can be as quiet or active as the guest wishes. We would definitely recommend this property to others.
We've just returned from our third year staying at the Meaden's house and are planning to return next year. The house is wonderful - comfortable, light and fully stocked - and it's location is incredible (walking distance to town, beautiful lake access). The Meadens take great care of the house and we've been pleased to find significant improvements made each year (new dock, new flat screen tv, new range). I highly recommend the Lake House for your vacation in Glen Arbor!
Gym in town, Hunting and Fishing, Charter Fishing, Horseback Riding nearby, Canoeing, Downhill and Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling and Sledding in winter, The Crystal River, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Empire Bluffs and Lake Michigan beaches are just minutes away
