The Isle of Palms, like all barrier islands, has a dynamic beach near the inlet that separates the island from Dewees Island. The ebb and flow of the changing tides, through the inlet, creates and moves sand bars just off shore. These sandbars will channel waves between them, resulting in the massive buildup of sand along portions of the island where other areas may develop temporary erosional hot spots. These hot spots will feature a sand beach throughout the day outside an hour or so before and after high tide. Where a dry sand beach may be limited in these few areas at high tide, walking either direction will lead to an area where the sandbars have created an expansive beach to enjoy at any tide.

Overall the house was beautiful and we LOVED staying there! Everyone was happy and content all week and really enjoyed our family vacation:) We have stayed at Wild Dunes for the past 4 years and this was by far our favorite house! Peaceful and relaxing, close to the beach, plenty of room and privacy for the whole family. Thank you so much for a WONDERFUL stay and for making our vacation fantastic!
Beautiful vacation time! When we were not at the beach we spent most of our time on the screened in patio. Perfect for a morning cup of coffee or a quick lunch. The bedroom layout worked well for our families. They allowed everyone to go to sleep and wake up at separate times without disturbing each other. The four bathroom also allowed for everyone to get ready quickly. Wonderful place to make family memories!
We very adult ladies consisting of family members vacation together every year and love to visit new and exciting places and like to be TOGETHER to enjoy each others company. This house fit the bill exactly. There were six of us and the four bedrooms were perfect that the senior member could have her own room, the one that couldn't negotiate steps well had the ground floor room with the walk-in shower and the others four that didn't mind sharing had the two bedrooms upstairs with plenty of space and separate baths of their own. Privacy but plenty of shared space too. It was very well stocked with initial essentials(toilet paper, soap, shampoo, paper towels) and the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Although we came prepared for our morning coffee, an initial supply was provided as well. All in all, it couldn't have been more pleasant. It was very clean and no odors. The furniture was clean and well kept and the premises well maintained. There was an ample supply of trash bags, and there was a vacuum cleaner and other basic things anyone would need, ironing board, broom, dustpan, etc.
One evening around 9:00pm when we arrived back home one of the smoke detectors batteries was running out and it was beeping. We called the maintenance number provided and someone was there to replace the battery within approximately 20 minutes or so.
I would certainly recommend anyone with a group or family to stay here. It was within walking distance of the beach and there were plenty of things to see and do around the house. We drove to Charleston one day and visited two different plantations. There was a wonderful restaurant a short distance away called Morgan Creek Grill that was AMAZING! The house has a grill that we didn't use but was great that we could. We utilized the front porch rockers, the swing and the screened-in back porch for our morning coffee and tea. GREAT place.
We really enjoyed our stay. I appreciated the house having the essentials (toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, d/w liquid, etc.) upon move-in...many rentals are quite bare. I recommend this rental. We enjoyed renting bikes, the beach and the surrounding area!
