Connecticut House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms + Detached Unit, 3.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

Riverview Cottage is one of Mystic's finest waterfront locations. The house, boathouse, and barn are perched directly on the Mystic River. It includes 1.25 acres of quiet land with mature trees and is completely air conditioned. It is an ideal location for families who want a quiet refuge of kayaking and canoeing in close proximity to Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic Aquarium, historic downtown Mystic, and the neighboring beaches of Rhode Island and the Mystic area. Riverview Cottage has a long, waterfront porch furnished with comfortable wicker and rockers as well as an even larger balcony above and a terrace adjoining the lower porch. The house is situated on a large tidal cove populated by osprey, herons, egrets, swans and ducks. A fragrant border of honeysuckle runs along the waterfront sometimes attracting hummingbirds when in bloom. It includes a full kitichen, well-stocked library and a comfortable studio-apartment over the detached garage. The property includes a large boathouse the owners use for storage.

Keywords: Waterfront, water sports, kayak, canoe, boat, bird watching.

Gorgeous rental

  • 5 of 5

Just finished 5 nights at Riverview for my daughter's wedding at Mystic Seaport and we couldn't have asked for a better house to stay in. The house was immaculate and the descriptions were accurate. We had 4 family units staying there. One stayed in the apt over the garage and the others stayed in the main house. Plenty of bedrooms which were very large and bathrooms for everyone. We had a clambake on the property which was a huge hit. Everyone loved the house and the location right on the river. It is so convenient to downtown Mystic where the young people actually conducted a scavenger hunt at various popular places, Mystic Pizza of course, the Harp and Hound Irish pub, the drawbridge ice cream shop, many captains homes, etc. We held the rehearsal dinner at the Engine Room restaurant, an industrial decor with fantastic food and service. We had extremely warm weather but the central air kept the house cool and comfortable. The 2 kayaks and the canoe were in constant use. And the ducks with their ducklings who came up to the back yard were adorable. We couldn't resist feeding them! You will not be disappointed renting this house.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautiful and very comfortable. We had Thanksgiving dinner for 15 and it definitely made great family memories for us all! The river is awesome and we even used the row boat and kayak. The sunrise is more gorgeous than you can imagine. Im running out of "great" adjectives to describe our stay and the house. On Friday we went to the Seaport (which is 5 minutes away) and then to Mohegan Sun Friday night (a 15 minute drive). If you are coming from Long Island we highly recommend the ferry from Orient Point. It shaved a couple hours off the trip. We hope to be back!

Peaceful and charming

  • 5 of 5

We had a large group for Thanksgiving and the property was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed, there was space for all, and the views were terrific. Given the weather, we most enjoying the large and festive living room fire place. The photos don't show the bathrooms, which were all very nice. The house is close to Mystic and the train station, and yet we felt like we were really away from it all because of the tranquil river setting. My son and his friends enjoyed canoeing, even though it was cold. I bundled up and enjoyed morning coffee on the deck. It's easy to imagine how nice this house would be in the summer. Paul was great to work with and the property was very well maintained. I hope to return soon!

UNFORGETTABLE!!!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about the Riverview Cottage. My family rented last weekend for my wedding: rehearsal dinner, day-of getting ready for bridal party, photos, and accommodations for all parents. We comfortably fit 8 adults sleeping (could have easily fit a handful more!), and had plenty of space on wedding day for 10 gals to get ready. When making wedding plans, we originally considered getting multiple hotel rooms down the road, but this option far exceeded those ideas; financially it made so much more sense, and allowed everyone to be under one roof for such an important occasion. The 3rd floor master suite was absolutely perfect for all of my bridal getting-ready photos. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as cooperative as we would have hoped, but the amazing views, and easy access of the cottage from downtown Mystic completely made up for it. No one wanted to leave at the end of our stay! We took plenty of photos under the 1st floor deck, and in front of the many picture windows around the house. This home has everything we needed and more. Paul was a pleasure to work with as well! My family already has plans to rent this house again in the future- it was that amazing!! Thank you Paul for a wonderful experience- we look forward to visiting again soon!
