Rent Balaguier Castle Cottage in a charming little village in Aveyron in the south of France, and you will be sure to discover nature, calm and beauty in a place steeped in history.

Balaguier is a medieval village of one hundred inhabitants, nestled half way down a valley of rolling hills, chestnut woods, sheep pastures and untouched fields of wild heather and broom.

The cottage has two bedrooms, one shower, and a large dining room with a fully-equipped kitchen. You will have your own private terrace and set of garden furniture. Access to garage if required. Castle restaurant on request. Welcome guaranteed.

Le logement est bien pensé, l'environnement est calme, et les bâtisses en pierre sont charmantes. Malheureusement on avait oublié d'y faire le ménage avant notre arrivée...

Un havre de paix

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour à la découverte de l'aveyron. Thomas et Anne-Marie sont très accueillant tout en restant discret mais à l'écoute. La maison est simple sans extravagance et c'est ce qu'on aime. Si vous avez envie d'espace et de calme nous vous recommandons vivement cette location. Nous garderons un très bon souvenir de notre passage.

Molt bé, l'allotjament s'ajusta a la descripció i a les fotografies. El Thomas i la seva família ens van acollir de manera fantàstica i ens van proporcionar llibres i fulletons i ens van fer propostes de visites molt interessants

Slate tile roof on a stone walled cottage

The facilities are most adaquate, with two bedrooms and bathroom upstairs, and open kitchen/living room/dining room on the ground floor. Furnishings are simple. A pleasant terrace with picnic table is found just outside the front door. For those of us who have not experienced old-fashioned rural France, this location is a wonderful start. Five minutes' drive, or a half-hour walk get one to the town with some services: restaurants, groceries, bakery, petrol, chemist, clinic. And the river runs through it! And old stone bridges span it! The rental's location in the small village begs an internet search: "Balaguier sur Rance". No street names. We were met and welcomed by the owner, our host, who invited us in to the "Chateau", immediately next door. I recommend a visit there, if at all possible. The sensation of previous centuries' living leaves lovely memories. Our host was most generous with his time, gave us welcome insights regarding the region, and recommendations of places to visit. We were interested in old villages, and the region, which had gained freeway access only 10 years back, has many such tiny, quaint towns. Our two weeks was insufficient for us to visit all the places we wanted. Yes, I would like to return, and most definitely would recommend this home to our friends.
