About Ines Swansburg

My name is Ines, I am of Dutch descend but was born in Spain hence the spanish name. I moved with my family to Victoria BC, straight from the Costa Brava in Spain when I was 14 years old. Now, that is a long time ago! I am a registerd nurse and love my job in the community. I have two sons and a small mix breed non-shedding 12 lbs dog. I also love my place out in Sooke that I share with many people all over the world. It is the perfect place to get away from our busy lives.

Ines Swansburg purchased this house in 1992

Why Ines Swansburg chose Vancouver Island

This home was my first home that I owned and never could bring myself to sell it. Renting out month to month could not give me the options to enjoy it so the vacation rental option was perfect for us!

What makes this house unique

Peace and tranquility. Love getting close to the sun, fresh air and ocean breeze.

Sunrise from the master, Sunset from the hot tub...

  • 5 of 5

You couldn't pick a better well laid out, comfortable place with spectacular ocean views. We woke to sunrise out the master, watched sunset from the living room and hot tub. You can even sit in the bathroom and look out at the ocean! Open living area / kitchen completely stocked with everything you need plus books, games and movies. We should have brought a fishing rod, as the private deck and staircase to the beach could offer some fish, the sea lions and otters teasing us. Towels and even little slippers at the door for your hot tub needs, come in to a toasty fire in the wood stove :) Internet and cell service not great, but just plan for 'who needs it'. There is a landline if you need to contact anyone. Owner is lovely, booking and questions quick and easy. So relaxing, we will be back for sure.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review! The internet WiFi works except someone re-set the router recently causing the settings to be lost. It will be fixed. Cell reception is spotty and may go to the States across the water. Guests may want to turn roaming off.

Great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

Second time staying here and just as good as the first. Beautiful relaxing view from the patio and hot tub. Did not use the wood burning stove but am sure it would be nice on a cold day. Saw whales and seals this visit. Kitchen is well stocked. Could not ask for a better place to relax for a few days. Hope to come back again maybe in the winter this time. Added bonus she takes dogs!!!

Beautiful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Surfside cottage is located in a beautiful remote setting. Perfect place to take in amazing scenery and quiet down time. The cottage itself was very comfortable and felt like home. The view could not be better. In spite of the rainy weather we thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, wood stove, and staring out over Juan de Fuca. Hard to leave.

What a beautiful location. Right on the ocean edge it is up on the cliff which makes for a wonderful view but also has stairs down to the water. The weather was rainy so we did not sit out on the patio but did enjoy the hot tub in the evenings. The wood burning fireplace was helpful during a short power outage also. We only ate breakfast at the cottage but the kitchen is well stocked so you could cook anything. But there are some great local restaurants to try. The master bedroom has a great king bed you go to sleep to the sound of waves and wake up to a magnificient sunrise from bed. Will definitely be coming back again. Don't look any further this is the best place to stay .

Just Amazing

  • 5 of 5

First time being in Sooke and we decided to stay at the Surfside Cottage. The cottage really made our trip. It has everything you need to just stay in and relax. Full working kitchen, BBQ outside and a outdoor hot tub. It slept 6 of us comfortably. The cottage it right on the edge of the coast so the view was amazing. There is a wooden bridge and staircase that leads down to the peddle beach. The beach is super private. Such a great place.

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

My family and I traveled to Sooke this month as we are looking at moving there. We decided to stay at Surfside Cottage so we could all stay together (my husband, 3yr old daughter and my parents). The cottage was perfect for us. It became a home away from home as we really looked forward to returning in the evenings. Even going so far as being glad when dinner plans fell through so we could stay at the cottage by the fire and just relax. We used all three rooms and while we weren't sure what to expect with the "teen room" it worked for us as my parents stayed in that room. It's a small room in the lower level of the house with an outside door and it's own small bathroom. The beds are a little smaller than a normal twin but my father, who is 5'10" fit just fine. The 2 rooms upstairs are large and have plenty of room for luggage. Everything was provided as well as far as kitchen gadgets and dishes. All the beds in the house are extremely comfortable and everything was sparkling clean. It is a bit of a walk from the parking area to the house down a path and it's so worth it.

This was all about the view though. We even saw a whale making his way by on our last day. He was so close we could have thrown a rock and hit him. Standing at the living room windows with the fire crackling, watching the whale slowly swim by was something we'll remember forever! Although an orca or 2 would have been even better! :)

It was relaxing, quiet and peaceful and we appreciated it very much. We will be back once our house sells so we can go house hunting yet again!

Thank you Ines!
