We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Fiorentino.
We had a driver arranged by the owners pick us up at the Naples train station which was very convenient (a little splurge at $100 but we felt well worth it). He dropped us off at the front door and were immediately met by Domenico. The steps up to our room were probably about 80 but a porter carried our bags which made it easier.
The room was extremely large with two large balconies with fantastic views. The furnishings were nice, kitchen fully stocked with a dish washer and washing machine, and the bathrooms completedly updated with the best showeres we had in our two week trip to Italy.
The best part of the property in our opinion is the pool. Even though it's another 80-100 steps up, the climb is worth it once you see the view and the extremely nice "infinity" pool. We spent way more time at the pool than we anticipated.
The only down side to the property and Positano in general is the number of steps you have to climb. Positano is not for the weak of heart! It was a 10 minute walk down many, many steps to the beach and the walk up was brutal until we finally figured out the bus. The bus stops in a little "square" a little ways up from the beach. For Villa Fiorentino, all you had to do was get on this bus and it stopped almost in front of the property. Saved many, many steps up! Bus runs every half an hour, on the half hour.
In summary, we loved our stay in Positano and at Villa Fiorentino. It is our dream to return there some day.
Villa Fiorentino is a wonderful Mediterranean-style villa, the ideal place to feel at home in a corner of Paradise.
It is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world: 'Positano', the pearl of the Amalfi Coast, just a short distance from the beach, restaurants, shops, and few minutes by car or ferry from Capri, Amalfi, Ravello, Sorrento, Pompei and from Path of the Gods on the top mountains around the coast.
A walking route in the mountains of the Amalfi Coast, from Bomerano to Positano.
Walking between rocky ridges, small valleys and quiet mountain terraces, you feel as if you are touching the sky before returning to earth down the colourful pathways which lead to the sea.
Like a large shell the inlet which opens up between Capo Sottile and Punta Germano (25 Km from Sorrento on trunk road 145) is the setting for the white houses of Positano,a treasure which lights up by day beneath the sun and then takes on different colours at sunset.
