About Jack Forgosh

I am a semi-retired investment advisor who has fallen in love with the Eastern Shore of Virginia. For me, it is a four season destination even though most enjoy it for its beaches. I love the golf, fishing, kayaking and exploring. While the restaurants are few the eateries and drinkeries are all quite good.

Jack Forgosh purchased this house in 2010

Why Jack Forgosh chose Eastern Shore Virginia

The Eastern Shore of Virginia is beautiful and still unspoiled. You have the glorious Chesapeake Bay 1/4 mile to the west and the Atlantic Ocean a few miles to the east. My family love this home and we are glad to share it with other families.

What makes this house unique

These homes were built on one of the original farms of the Eastern Shore which dates back several hundred years. Our hoe is a spacious 3500 sq. ft. on an acre with a salt water, in ground V-bottom pool. I love my yard with is birch and crape myrtles, various shrubs and an abundance of flowers. The evening sky is miraculous without much light pollution. I love watching the Swallows who have nested on the property as they hunt for bugs and sip from the pool. The house is ideal for multi-generational families or for four couples.

Amazing home!

  • 5 of 5

We are just in our second day here and are so impressed. Jack pays attention to every detail! I have stayed at quite a few vacation homes over the years. This is a place where you can relax, enjoy the outdoors, cook etc., without bringing everything from home to do so! The kitchen is equipped beautifully with much more available than I ever expected! The pool and home are beautiful, incredibly comfortable beds, and a beautiful yard. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely property with a wonderful owner!

  • 5 of 5

Extended family stayed here in September. While attending a family wedding in Cape Charles. The home and property was absolutely beautiful! Jack the owner was so helpful. We hosted the rehearsal dinner/BBQ here. He helped us arrange additional parking for our guests. He provided directions for family members and recommended activities. The beach was pristine although a little further away than we expected (about a2-3 minute drive to access and another few minutes walk). It was absolutely worth it once you got there. The home has lots of additional amenities as well. Many beach toys and bicycles etc... Plenty to do for all ages.

Beautiful Beach and Wonderful Outdoor Activities

  • 4 of 5

We loved all the opportunity for outdoor activities such as biking and going to the beautiful beach. We were a bit disappointed that a few of the bikes needed maintenance and were essentially unusable, the pool did not have a working light and was not functional at night and a few areas around the house needed maintenance such as the broken umbrella on the deck, grill was out of propane, and a hole in the wall in bedroom. Also, the beach passes were missing and the neighbor/owners were very unwelcoming when we parked our car at the beach entrance to drop off older members of our group as a result. That was unfortunate since we came to the area specifically to see if it might be a great retirement/vacation home spot for the in-laws. We would give this stay a five if those concerns were addressed. All in all, it was a fun vacation and we liked the lovely house and gardens.

Beautiful, well-equipped house

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Cape Charles for a week at the end of June with four couples and two one year-olds. We found that the house was spacious and no one ever felt on top of one another. Driving in we were a little surprised by how remote the house is, although this wasn't a huge problem for us as we were not looking for a lot of tourist attractions. The guys in our group did a lot of golfing at the Bay Creek course with the 'twilight' prices. Virginia Beach is only 45mins-1hour away if you're really looking for larger attractions. Cape Charles is a small town with only a few restaurants which I would recommend getting a reservation for ahead of time. We found everything we needed at the Food Lion and cooked in most of our nights. The kitchen was well equipped and the house also has a grill on the deck. We were impressed by all of the added things the house had (cornhole boards, pool volleyball, bikes to ride to the beach, kayaks for the pond, beach towels/linens). We had a great time and the house was perfect for all our vacation needs!

Overall Positives: Beautiful house, stocked kitchen, great yard, secluded relaxation, semi-private beach, lots of entertainment at the house (games, pool, darts, etc.)

Overall Negatives: wifi was not super fast for streaming, limited choices for restaurants/attractions

Beautiful home, lovely yard, but the pool was the star. We floated all week. Lots of bikes to use, and spacious home. It was a wonderful week.

Also about 6 minutes away is the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge visitor center. There is a bike trail that runs from near the property all the way to the wildlife refuge. The town of Cape Charles is about 10 minutes and offers restaurants, shops, a public beach, jet ski rentals, kayak rentals and tours, and charter sailing and fishing. Cape Charles also offers both Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses. It is an hour trip to the Virginia Beach ocean front, an hour and 20 minutes to Williamsburg and about 1.5 hours to Chincoteague, home of Misty of Chincoteague. Antique shops abound on the Eastern Shore.
