Gloucester Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Waterfront with dock this gem has four bedrooms and 1.5 baths, a deepwater dock (for up to a 30' boat) and a wrap around screened porch. Swim from dock, shore or sand bar.

Addition of new windows, insulation, Heat & Central Air Conditioning now extends our season March 1 – December 31.This newly renovated and updated waterfront gem has four bedrooms and 1.5 baths, a deep-water dock (accommodates up to a 30 foot boat, with our new extended dockage in 2014) and a wrap-around screened porch where one can sit and watch the glimmering water, wildlife and passing boats go by on the tidal Annisquam River. At high tide swim from the dock or the shore directly in front of the house and at low tide there is great swimming from the sand bar. The sunny, modern eat-in kitchen has gas cooking, dishwasher, full size washer/drier and a half bath. The dining room seats 8 and is open onto the living area which has a huge new sectional and 50 inch flat screen TV complete with a high-end Bose theater sound system, deluxe cable service and DVD player. The screen porch is pure heaven for sitting during the day, or for those who wish, sleeping on those warm summer nights. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms (two with views of the water) with new linens, decor and cable television, plus a completely renovated custom-tiled full bathroom with tub and shower. Outside there are lovely newly landscaped front and back yards and plenty of parking as well as an outdoor hot and cold water shower. This is the waterfront vacation you have been dreaming of!

About Captain Scott Kingsley

Captain Scott A. Kingsley, B.S., J.D., Northeastern University, Massachusetts School of Law. Lifelong resident of Buoy 23, family property since 1929. Constable at Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1974. U.S.C.G Licensed Master of Steam and Motor Driven Vessels.

Captain Scott Kingsley purchased this cottage in 1929

Why Captain Scott Kingsley chose Merrimack Valley & Essex County

Back during the Great Depression, more than 85 years ago, with much of the Gloucester waterfront available to him, Grandfather Angelo Russo, of Russo's Candy House fame, chose Buoy 23 as the base for his boating and tuna fishing hobbies. He spent the remaining 21 years of his life developing the property to his exacting specifications. Since that time, his family has made every effort to preserve the original style and charm of this wonderful property. In the past five years that we have been offering the property to the public, all income has been re-invested in property improvements. Our goal is to be the caretakers for a select group of long-term clients that appreciate and understand the vacation home rental concept. We look forward to see you as a cherished stakeholder in our venture. As more and more properties go private and become overdeveloped, we are proud to share this rare wonderful vacation experience with you. While effort has been made to provide modern kitchen, bath, comfort and climate control amenities, the remainder of the property has been meticulously maintained with it's original charm, and we encourage our guests to recommend further improvements.

What makes this cottage unique

Deep water dockage, a rare benefit in Annisquam area. Perched on the northern end of Riverview Cove, water view range exceeds 250 degrees.

A vacation to remember!

  • 5 of 5

What an awesome week we had at Buoy 23! From panoramic views to the coziness of the entire house. We loved spending our evenings on the screened porch watching the sunset and the moon sparkle on the river. Not even only is the view gorgeous, but the house its location put us within the perfect distance to all local sights, shops and restaurants. The surrounding property is perfect for sun bathing, kite flying, etc. it was truly a vacation we will never forget. We hope to return for many years to come!

Don't pass this one up!!

Absolutely stunning property and fantastic owner. The westerly exposure sets off a beautiful sunset. We invited the owner over for cocktails and dinner and he gave us an entire history of the house and area. Fascinating. Can't wait to be there again next fall. The house itself is beautifully decorated and immaculate. The kitchen is perfect. The porch is a great place to hang out and watch the boats go by. The beds are all really comfortable. Do yourself a favor and rent Bouy 23 and thank me later. The owner can't do enough for you and the setting will set your soul free.

Idyllic!

  • 5 of 5

What a special place this is. Booked this online from the UK as the house and area looked so lovely, but it's even better when you see it for real. Lovely, well equipped house in a fantastic location. We had the most relaxing week watching the river and our three teenage kids loved it too. Perfectly placed for exploring Gloucester and going on a whale watching trip. The owner Scott went above and beyond to help is on arrival after cancelled flights and delays, can't thank him enough. Highly recommended, will be back if we possibly can!

Great House, Great Views, Interesting Town

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time renting a house for vacation, so I didn't know what to expect.

First of all, the owner, Scott was great, very accommodating and pleasant throughout my entire vacation experience. My plan was a bachelor party for a small group of guys including a deep sea fishing charter. The place was conveniently located to the marina for driving and close to the downtown area for cabs.

Overall, we had a great time, would happily come back and stay in the future.

Roomy "Old New England" Coastal Gem

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a week and I wished I had booked a longer stay! The house is very comfortable and homey, very well stocked and very clean. The view......well, the view is amazing!!! The house has a giant porch that overlooks the Annisquam River estuary and you can just sit and watch the expance of salt marsh, wildlife, and changing tides along the private dock for hours! I highly recommend a stay here, just be prepared to not want to leave. There are so many more great things I could say about this quaint place but I will just sum it up to the cottage being my new favorite place to stay at the coast. I can't wait to book a return trip! The owners were very friendly and easy to work with also. Thanks for sharing your awesome beach house with us!

Relaxing Retreat with a View

  • 5 of 5

Rating Details:

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.

I was very happy with the location.

The vacation rental was very clean.

The property manager was very helpful.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.

Reviewer Comments:

Our family, including our lab, enjoyed the home on the river. Fishing from the dock, swimming for the kids & dog, sitting on the large screened in porch watching the boat pass by, going to Good Harbor Bch, & dining in downtown Gloucester were a few activities this location provides.

One small problem arose, but the owner was quick to remedy the situation.

One suggestion to make the rental even better: enclose the outdoor shower.
