Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms + Queen Sleeper, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6 (4 Cottages in all - up to 35)

Seaside Cottage 2 - Your own private Oceanfront Cottage located just 5 minutes from Historic Downtown St Augustine on the 'Best Section' of beach. Loads of activities within walking distance. No long catwalks. No Cars allowed. Just powder white sand steps from your door. Totally renovated in 2012 with 'Top-of-the-Line' finishes . Total of 4 Cottages ranging from 1 to 5 Bedrooms. It does not get any better than this!

My goal was to create the ultimate Vacation experience for small to large groups. I wanted you to feel you were walking right into Coastal Living Magazine. Crisp White Linens. Bead board walls. Soft beach colors. I want you to tell your friends, This is your favorite place to stay (and bring them with you next year). It starts with the second story Greatroom with spectacular ocean views ...

OceanView Greatroom. To recreate the feel of a true beach house we wanted real 'Heart of Pine' floors. Here you cannot go new. You have to go old. They don’t sell the good stuff anymore. We found a mill in Georgia and had the floors made for us out of 100 yr old timbers from a building out of Nashville, TN (only 50 miles from where I grew up in Shelbyville, Walking Horse Capital of the World). Then we added a huge side picture window to enhance the view and two sets of French Doors opening out to a Covered Oceanfront Balcony with amazing Ocean Views, Breezes and Sounds. For your entertainment we added a wall mounted Big Screen TV with Comcast and Wireless Internet. Even a Streaming Video box for You Tube and Netflix (if you have an account). You can even view the family photos together on the big screen. Plus share hours of fun playing games on the large Dining Table. We provide several but I recommend Rummikub. It is our family favorite and can be played from 6 to 96. It is a game you actually have to think and I hope it will become a tradition in your family too and make you think or your stay in St Augustine. There a are 2 bedrooms downstairs with private baths but if you need more space the leather sofa folds out into a very comfortable Queen Sleeper with access to a Full Bath by the Kitchen. We've also added a Daybed in the Greatroom for extra seating/sleeping.

Gourmet Kitchen. We had the kitchen custom made. Lots of glass doors so you could find things, even bead board inside to give it that “Beachy” look. And “white granite” counters. It is in all the magazines, so I had to have it, but can't tell you how hard it was to find. The stainless appliances feature the new French door refrigerator. a convection Smooth Top Stove with 2 ovens so you can cook 'two things at once' & the quietest dishwasher I have ever heard. It is fully equipped with Pottery Barn dishes and glasses and all the pot, pans and utensils you'll need to create a gourmet meal. You will enjoy cooking so much and you may save enough money to stay another night! We hope so.

Two Bedrooms with Private Baths. The Bedrooms are both downstairs. Here we used a cool, soft grey marble. The most beautiful stone I've ever seen. I had the beds custom built with Reading Sconces on each side for those who love reading in bed. There are Pottery Barn Curtains and French Doors leading out to an ocean-side paver patio with Table for morning coffee or 'more games'. Both have 42” wall mounted TVs and wireless internet.

Private Baths. Both bedrooms have new, private bathrooms. One with a large 6’ shower and 2 shower heads. The other with dramatically lit Garden Tub and separate “Rainhead” Shower.

Outside. In back is a huge paver patio with BBQ, dining table and chairs. It is a combo grill for both gas or charcoal since we did not know which you would prefer. Also an outdoor shower with hot and cold water when returning from the beach. Chairs and Boogie Boards provided as well as both Bath and Beach towels. Interior washer/dryer. Parking for 2 cars.

Remember, if you need more space, or less, there are 4 Cottages in all:

COTTAGE #1 has 5 Bedrooms + Bunk Room for 2 small kids + 3 Sleeper Sofas & 5 Baths (Seeps 6-19)

COTTAGE #2 (Described here) has 2 Bedrooms + 1 Sleeper Sofa + 1 Daybed & 3 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)

COTTAGE #3  is a 2 Bedroom +1 Sleeper Sofa & 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)

COTTAGE #4 is a 1 Bedroom +1 Sleeper Sofa + 1 Daybed & 1.5 Bath Sleeps 2-5)

Total is 35.

Now to the Beach and why I call it the 'Best Beach'. You need to do your research here. There is a tremendous difference in the beaches and only 18 streets of what most people  agree is the Best section of Beach where we are located. Why? I have 5 reasons...

BEST BEACH. There are 4 distinct Beaches in St Augustine.  Be sure and find out “where” your beach house is located before you book.

First is the SAND.  The sand is like powder, not coarse ground up shells like Vilano to the north. This is the white powder you are looking for.  Great for drip castles!

Second, at OCEAN IS RIGHT AT YOUR DOOR STEP.  There is no long raised boardwalk like further south along Atlantic View with a 5 minute walk across the dunes to navigate with the cooler & chairs before you ever get to the water.  Here the ocean and the VIEW is steps from your door.  Be careful. There are some “beachfront” homes that are so “far from the beach” because of the sand dunes that you can hardly “see” the ocean.

Third, there are NO CARS.  This is a major distinction.  Everything south of A Street has Cars. Imagine trying to play paddle ball or throwing football with cars continually passing by & having to be on constant baby alert. Not while you are on vacation!

Fourth, the beach is WIDE with GREAT WAVES - Some beaches in Vilano to the north are narrow & steep, some even with rocks.  The slope of the beach affects the waves.  They break so close in you can't boogie board. The locals consider this the BEST SURFING around. There's a friendly Surf shop with lessons & rentals right down the street on 1st Lane if you have some adventurous ones. The rest will have plenty of fun with the boogie boards provided by Seaside Cottages free of charge.

Last, the beach is within WALKING DISTANCE of loads of activities and restaurants.  Many beaches both north and south are so isolated you have a long drive to get to anything.  Not here. It is so nice to be able to walk over to a restaurant for breakfast or send the kids out for Ice Cream Cones. There is a park nearby with Tennis and a YMCA for swimming or workout. Even a funky BBQ restaurant with live music where you can have a drink and watch your little ones play in their POOL.  But better yet is the Pier.  Located within walking distance they have a new Splash Park the kids will love plus Beach Volleyball courts, pier fishing, a Farmers Market and Free Live Music Concerts. How wonderful is that?

So…… Please call if I can answer any questions day or night or visit my website with photos of every room and check out my You Tube Video.

I hope you will enjoy your stay and come to think of this as YOUR Home at the Beach.?

At your service,

Linda

About Linda Bayles

My name is Linda Bayles. I have been a Realtor in the Jacksonville/St Augustine area ranking in the Top 1% of Agents since 1998.

I work primarily as a Single Agent. There are not many of us out there. Most Realtors work as neutral Transaction Agents. You can google 'Buyers Agent' to get an overview of the difference. I think it is big. Just ask yourself the question, "Would I want the other sides Attorney to represent me too?" That's it in a nut shell but the amazing thing is, unlike Attorneys, it does not cost you anything to have your OWN Realtor representing just YOUR interest. We are all paid by the Seller. So .... I would love to help if you are thinking about buying or selling in the area. Just call and I will start sending photos of homes so you can get familiar with the options before you come. Once here just let me know when you are available. We can see about 4 per hour. Check out my Realtor website: www.BuySell.ListingBook.com

And in 2004, I fell in love with St Augustine Beach.

Linda Bayles purchased this house in 2011

Why Linda Bayles chose St. Augustine Area

In 2005 I walked into a 1926 beach cottage on St Augustine Beach and knew I had found my calling. I wanted to 'Create' a vacation space for Families. Large extended families. A place were Cousins, Grandmothers, Uncles and Aunts can comfortably come together to reconnect and enjoy each other away from the demands of the outside world.

I come from a large family of 5 children as does my husband, Brad. Some of my fondest memories are when we all got together to just 'hang out' for 3 or 4 days. The little ones always come up with a 'play'. The adults always congregate in the Kitchen passing down the 'Family Recipes' to the next generation and playing Games. We are a big Game playing family. Specifically Rummikub . If you have never played, you should. I make sure there is one in each house and once you are hooked and have one of your own, hope you will think of your St Augustine stay every time you play. (Call and I will give you the rules)

So I bought that 1926 Craftsman, gutted it and turned it into The Chautauqua which sleeps 22. It has been a rewarding success.

In 2011, my Father expanded the tradition and bought 4 homes on 3 Oceanfront lots. We could not believe our luck and spent the next year remodeling them into The Seaside Cottages. We just put them on the market in June 2012.

Now we can accommodate up to 35 in one location! Cottage 1 is 5 bedroom 5 bath plus 2 sleeper sofas, 1 daybed and 2 bunks. Cottage 2 (here) is a 2 Bedroom 3 bath plus sleeper sofa and daybed. Cottage 3 is a 2 bedroom 2 bath with Sleeper. And Cottage 4 is a 1 bedroom 1.5 bath with Sleeper and Daybed.

The Best part is not only the houses but the BEACH. There are only 18 streets on the “Best Beach” - No cars. No Catwalk. The ocean right at your door. Everything within walking distance…. And we now have homes on 2 of the them!

I hope you will come stay with us and create memories you will cherish for a lifetime. Then I will consider it a success.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had 23 family members - what could go wrong? Clearly nothing!! We rented Cottage 1 and 2. The cottages had everything that we needed to cook and share and play and relish every moment. The bedrooms and common spaces were perfect for our gathering - they were clean, open and beautifully maintained. I can't envision a better setting for our family. The beach was amazing. And Linda was available

to answer any/all questions. We HIGHLY recommend this property!!

Lovely vacation, lovely cottage, lovely location

  • 5 of 5

It was wonderful staying at such a well-supplied cottage. Plenty of beach towels - even had a beach umbrella. We used the grill twice and noticed that they had restocked the gas for the grill mid-week. Very responsive management. Terrific location. We had a wonderful time and would certainly come back for future visits to St. Augustine. (We loved St. Augustine as well).

We stayed in cottage 2. The second floor deck provided a great view of the ocean. The master bedroom downstairs had a very nice bathroom area with nice tile work. There was a path to the ocean right next to the units. There is a washer and dryer that is easily accessible on the property. We had a great time and would recommend it to our friends.

Winter Holiday

  • 5 of 5

My 9 year old daughter had a great time boogie boarding, riding beach bikes, and collecting seashells. We enjoyed the cottage and the beach so much we never made it to St. Augustine during the day. We wished we could have stayed longer than 5 days. Next time. Thanks Linda!

Pretty

  • 4 of 5

The house was lovely. Very close walking distance to the beach. Beds were comfortable, nicely decorated.

I wasn't in love with the how the cars had to be parked directly on front of cottage, ( as that was the view of ocean to some degree) but it didn't seem to bother others.

It was a pleasant stay.. Cozy.

Very Beautifully decorated, SO CLOSE to the Beach!

  • 5 of 5

The Cottage is lovely...very nicely done and so close to the beach! The decor is very pleasant and relaxing, very clean and inviting! The beach itself is beautiful, not crowded and has great waves. We enjoyed this place. I am especially impressed with how easy Linda makes it to book everything and "check in" is a breeze!
