The apartment is nestled in a redwood grove bordering Codonices Park. It comes with its own parking space. The Greek Theater and Memorial Stadium is a mile and a half down the hill (half hour walk, 7 minute drive). You can amble across the street to the Berkeley Rose Garden in the time it takes to recite a short poem. The area inspired legendary architects like Bernard Maybeck and Julia Morgan and their work graces the landscape. Alfred Peet and Alice Waters launched the culinary renaissance a fifteen minute stroll from your front door. The surrounding park abounds with redwoods, live oaks, dogwood and plum trees. There are basketball and tennis courts, the delightful landmark concrete slide and modern play structures. The famed network of Berkeley walking paths radiates from the area and will delight a dedicated hiker or recreational rambler. It is simply a wonderful location; within easy reach of the finest restaurants, the UC campus and a bustling downtown and yet cushioned in an abundance of nature. It’s a soft landing for a traveler and we will welcome you warmly.
You can enter the place from the street or the parking lot around the back. Behind the front gate is a cozy secluded patio just right to barbecue and entertain your family and friends. You enter through the front door into a sitting room with a fireplace, couch, chairs a small bar and kitchenette. The main bedroom has a five foot closet, a 40” wall mounted TV and a door that opens to a private space under the redwood canopy. Off the hallway there’s a full bathroom and a sitting/bedroom with a pull-out sofa bed and computer station. The laundry room features modern, front loading washer and dryer and a wall of shelving. Extra linens, blankets and towels are provided.
Great option in the hills of North Berkeley! Walkable neighborhood (if you can negotiate steep streets), great views, hidden paths, and access to the best of the Bay. Well-maintained little apartment... Will definitely return.
We enjoyed our stay and it was as advertised relatively roomy and right next to the lovely Rose Garden park. The landlord, Randy, was always available for questions and helpful. The only reason we don't give it 5 stars is that it didn't have a table to for the 3 of us to sit down and eat at together - but everything else was very nice.
Great host. Very organized and always helpful and available . Even though he was out of country but he made sure somebody was responsible to look after any errands.
This was my second stay here in 2016-2017. Ample beds for 6 people. Fully equipped - no issues for parking. Great retreat for a quiet holiday. You may want a car as it's up the hill however there is a bus route that goes every 20-25 min.
Would definitely book again.
It was exactly what my family needed during our stay and the area is perfect for the kids with the park being next door. It was very easy to get into the place and leave. I will definitely try to stay here again.
This is a nice clean apartment with a beautiful park behind it. The setting is quiet. The location is perfect. Just half a block to the beautiful Rose Garden Park. I was amazed to find 6 parks within .2 miles from this location. We had picnics every day! As we were there for the end of Sept it was nice and cool at night so the fireplace in the living room was an awesome bit of home. I highly recommend it1
The apartment is as advertised. A nice little cozy spot to have your home base. Randy is helpful and available. The park is super close and is amazing! I would recommend this spot to friends.
