Casa Beya, which simply means 'Beach House' in Spanish & Garifuna, is a vibrant, colorful partially thatched private retreat that has a unique, open-air, multi-level outdoor living space design!
The house is located in Maya Beach, which is six miles from the Placencia Airport and 8 miles from the village. The best part is it is a 100 yard walk to The Maya Beach Hotel, which serves the best food on the Peninsula.
Outside: Enjoy your coffee on one of the upper decks, let the gentle breezes lull you sleep in one of the many hammocks, eat all of your meals at the outside table, have cocktails in the 'outside living room', relax under the palapa on the beach or swim off the dock in the warm, Caribbean surf.
Inside: Is an absolute work of Art!!; with it's hand-carved stairs, unique arches, bright colors, and many special touches throughout ** plus Wifi! ***
MASTER= upstairs, 1 queen, private balcony overlooking ocean, private bathroom with shower.
DOWNSTAIRS RM=1 queen, private bathroom with bathtub.
'LOFT'= upstairs, 1 double bed, removable upper single bunk.
This house is ideal for your HONEYMOON! (BE IT YOUR FIRST OR YOUR SECOND) or simply a unforgettable Family get-away!!
Casa Beya will provide you with a fantastic place to stay while you visit a remarkable part of Belize!

It all started in 2006 when we were a family of 3 (Midge, Aaron & Bodi, age 2) & we bought Casa Beya. Now Bodi is 13. Casa Beya has been sold to a wonderful couple from Canada. Midge (still the owner of The Seagrape Escape) runs Guest Services/reservations for the 2 houses, while John & Judy manage all other aspects.
Midge purchased this house in 2005
We initially came to Belize in 2005 for a 7 day epic mountain bike race, which started and ended at the Placencia Hotel. We fell in love with the culture, the people and the vibe on the Peninsula. On one particular bumpy bike ride down the rode from the village we came upon some newly constructed condo which were offering 'pre-construction' prices. We nibbled at the bait and were caught hook, line & sinker! However, we just knew we were not condo folks....so when we saw Casa Beya on the market, we never looked back. It has been a dream come true to be able design and run this house as a rental. We have had many return guests and even several memorable weddings on the property!!
Since May 2014 Casa Beya is now owed by John and Judy, who enjoy leaving cold Canada to warm their toes in the sand. They can't wait to start bringing their young grandchildren down to Belize.
OUR DOCK!!!! (We are the ONLY vacation rental in Maya Beach that has their own dock!) Sun? or Shade? over the water...your pick!
These 2 houses are playfully decorated and designed for relaxation, romance, family-fun, and entertaining. There are a variety of seating options depending on your mood: in the sun or the shade? on the beach or the dock? in a hammock or swing bed? on the porch or the observation dock?
Martin & Diana, our wonderful caretakers live on site & if you read our reviews, you will see that they add a lot to our guest's experience! nothing but praise!
So, we invite you to check out these 2 properties and share our little piece of paradise with us!

Casa Beya was great. Read MUST at end. Caretakers Martin & Diana were willing to help with anything (phone calls, shopping, cleaning, cooking). Manager Midge emailed us a shopping list so we could stock the refrigerator. Kayaks, paddle boards and bikes! Decks, beach, hammocks & pier - great for lounging. The Maya Beach Bistro, just down the beach had the best food on the Peninsula,:coffee, breakfast, lunch & dinner, and you can use their pool. Rumfish in town was also a good place to eat. For lunch and night life, Tispy Tuna and Barefoot bars. You do need a car to get around, not a golf cart. There was a grocery store nearby but the best fruit stands (selection) are in Placencia near Rumfish. If you want fresh conch, fish, lobster, head to the docks about 3:00. There is a great locally made jewelry store across from Rumfish. Recommend hiking Antelope falls in Bocawina Rainforest. We rented a car from Barefoot rentals, which was a junker and eventually broke down the day before we left but they were nice enough to give us a ride to the airport for our flight and not charge us for not refueling the tank. If you need a large car for many passengers, you may want to rent in Belize City. We needed a car for 7 and Barefoot was the only one who could provide one. If you are interested in scuba diving, I recommend you say in San Pedro on Ambergris Cay instead. The boat ride to the best diving areas off Placencia are 1 hour and brutal (the boat driver goes full ahead and you are pounding the waves). Diving/snorkeling the "inner reefs" is not worth the price. Don't sign up for a manatee tour unless it's in the lagoon. Seagrape house can be rental with Casa Beya for a larger group. It has larger rooms, a screen porch and ping pong table. You MUST take precautions against the sand fleas. I took vitamin B12 staring a week before the trip and was slightly bitten. The others in my group did not take it and WERE bitten and suffered. Regular bug spray does not work. Coconut oil does. Read online for what else works. DO NOT try to pick up the fruit juicer with it's top on. It comes off and the container falls and you spill all the juice! The kitchen was wonderfully stocked. I'm a private Chef so that is a great compliment! If you are into cooking, bring your own chef's knife. We would recommend this place and stay their again. Enjoy!
5 adults just returned from an amazing week at Casa Beya for 2 birthdays! It was amazing, relaxing and felt like a home away from home. The dock is the place we hung out the most when we were at the house. The breeze is heavenly and the hammocks so comfy for an afternoon nap. The house has bikes, a kayak and paddleboards for entertainment or getting around and the water was warm and soothing. The property felt very private and is just perfect. We even had several visits from a beautiful iguana that hung out on the deck.
Martin and Diana were wonderful and made us feel at home. Booking and changes were made very easy by the owner, as well as billing and information. The owner and the caretakers are very amenable to customize your stay.
We did not rent a car and taxis are easy to arrange, however, I do recommend a car. It might be a bit cheaper in the end, depending on how often you go somewhere.
I would absolutely stay here again and wish I was still there now! Thank you to Midge, Diana, and Martin for a wonderful birthday week!
At the house there is great swimming, hammock lounging, beach-Cruiser biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, outdoor showering!
Across the street: The country's only bowling alley (4 lanes). They serve cool A/C, Great Pizza & good drinks!
Walking down the road or Beach: several small resorts that serve food & drink. A few of them will let you use their pool if you spend $$ in the resturant. (Maya Beach Hotel , Maya Breeze Hotel & Bz Ocean club)
PLUS!!: we now have a GREAT market just down the road: a 10 min walk or a 2 min bike ride. (Fresh produce best found in the village, 8 mi away)
a 1 mi. walk or quick Kayak: The newly open Belize Ocean Club as a swim up bar. Need I say more?
In Placencia Village, 8 mi away: more markets, shops, restaurants, Turtle Inn, Art Galleries, smoothie shack, dive shops & our favorite= Tuttie Fruitti Ice Cream shop! Please visit Greg at his fresh produce stand right across the road from here!
Within 1 hr= Monkey River tour, Jaguar Perserve (Waterfalls, Mayan Crafts, river float on inner tubes, jungle hikes)
2-3 hr drive: Caves tubing, Amazing Mayan Ruins, Zip Line, Blue Hole Nat'l park, Jungles and our favorite place to spend the night to or from the airport is the BZ ZOO! Their nocturnal tour is not to be missed!
