Adirondacks House Rental Photos and Description

4BR, 3 Bath, LR with Sofabed, Boathouse/Cabin, Sleeps 8+

The perfect location for your family vacation, couple's getaway, group retreat or reunion. Our house is the best location on an extraordinary lake, with southern exposure, a large deck and plenty of dock space, plus a swim float. Green Lake is a small, pond-size lake, so boat traffic is low, waves are small, and kids are safe. Canada Lake, accessed by boat, offers more adventures. Hike from the house to Kane Mountain fire tower for breathtaking views, or let the kids explore nearby ponds with salamanders, tadpoles and beaver dams. You can have a fulfilling week without leaving the lake – but there’s lots to explore in this unique southern Adirondack location. Saratoga, Cooperstown, the Adirondack Museum and Lake George Great Escape are popular day trips.

About Martha Tecca

My siblings and I grew up with summers on Green Lake, and we have a deep love for this special place and its people. I now live in New Hampshire -- also beautiful country, but I miss being able to spend as much time at our home on Green Lake home as we would like. We are thrilled to be able to share this spot and vicariously enjoy the summer on the lake with our guests.

Martha Tecca purchased this house in 1990

Why Martha Tecca chose Adirondacks

My parents discovered Green Lake in the early 70's and both rented and owned other houses on the lake. They purchased this home in 1990, because it's truly the best spot on what we think to be the best lake in the foothills of the Adirondacks! The house sits right on the lake, with the road a safe distance behind it; there is a nice stretch of waterfront, with a gradually sloping, sandy bottom; we have wonderful neighbors on both sides; there are hiking and biking trails right out the back door; and from our protected, small lake, we can access larger Canada, West and Lily Lakes. It's a truly special spot!

What makes this house unique

So many! The house is really set in nature, with a master bedroom that looks out over the lake and a fabulous deck that fills with afternoon sun. There are always loons, and in this calm lake you often see them just yards from the shore. Two firsts this year: the biggest fish we've caught in green lake -- my son caught an 18' bass, and we saw a merganser duck with 7 babies on her back! Two days later the ducklings were following her solo. There's always something new!

Beautiful October weekend!

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice weekend here. The house is on a small quiet lake with colorful surrounding hills. The owner is very nice to work with. There's not a lot to do in October but the Erie Canal tour in Herkimer is fun and educational.

Beautiful Quiet Location on Green Lake

  • 5 of 5

It would be hard to find another cabin on Green or Canada Lake with the gorgeous views and waterfront access. The layout is perfect for everyone to do whatever activity they would like, from swimming, to kayaking, to sitting on the spacious deck looking at mountains and crystal clear lake. The big kitchen serves as a wonderful gathering place when guests are visiting while the outdoor gas grill provided a perfect grilling location while still being able to socialize. Privacy, beautiful hemlocks and the daily hummingbird visits added to a great experience for our family. Thanks, Martha!

Everything we wanted

  • 5 of 5

We've been looking for a place like this for years - tucked away on a little lake with gorgeous views in every direction. The owner was extremely accommodating, answering all of my questions, and giving me all sorts of helpful information. We spent our days on the huge deck or on the lake in the canoes, rowboat or kayak that were there. We spent our evenings by the fire. I've never seen so many stars. We brought FAR too much with us - this place has everything you could possibly need. FULLY stocked kitchen, plenty of blankets, towels, games, cards, and plentiful outdoor seating. It's clean, comfortable, quiet and private. The beds were very comfortable.

We came here for a family getaway - 4 adult couples. It was perfect for us, but this place would be great for families with kids too. We're definitely coming back.

Great Location.

  • 4 of 5

We had a very relaxing week at the lake house. The area is very beautiful and we really enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and fishing.

Unfortunately a week before we arrived there was a heating oil spill in the basement which caused the house to smell strongly. Of course, the renter was not responsible for the spill but we would have preferred to have been notified beforehand so we could have packed accordingly (we were told not to use the heating). Due to cold nighttime temperatures and being accompanied by two small children the situation was at times uncomfortable.

That being said, we still had a wonderful time. I'm sure the situation was a one-off and most visitors enjoy themselves thoroughly.

Owner's Response: As always, we appreciate the feedback. We are so sorry that the stay wasn't just perfect. Yes, last year (2013) the oil tank was replaced, and in the process a very small amount of oil was spilled in the basement. A noticeable smell did persist for a couple of weeks. We encourage renters to report any issues as soon as they arise and work with us until they are resolved. When suggesting that the heating system be avoided (as the circulating air would distribute the smell), we apparently didn't make sure our guests found the many extra blankets and comforters throughout the house. We do our best to make it great from the start, and appreciate the opportunity to get it right if something goes wrong. Our goal is your comfort and, yes, thorough enjoyment! For anyone traveling to the Adirondacks in September: Do pack for cool nights! It should be warm inside, of course, but you'll want to enjoy the wonderful fall evenings outside.
