Overview

About the property

4BR, 3 Bath, LR with Sofabed, Boathouse/Cabin, Sleeps 8+

The perfect location for your family vacation, couple's getaway, group retreat or reunion. Our house is the best location on an extraordinary lake, with southern exposure, a large deck and plenty of dock space, plus a swim float. Green Lake is a small, pond-size lake, so boat traffic is low, waves are small, and kids are safe. Canada Lake, accessed by boat, offers more adventures. Hike from the house to Kane Mountain fire tower for breathtaking views, or let the kids explore nearby ponds with salamanders, tadpoles and beaver dams. You can have a fulfilling week without leaving the lake – but there’s lots to explore in this unique southern Adirondack location. Saratoga, Cooperstown, the Adirondack Museum and Lake George Great Escape are popular day trips.

About Martha Tecca

My siblings and I grew up with summers on Green Lake, and we have a deep love for this special place and its people. I now live in New Hampshire -- also beautiful country, but I miss being able to spend as much time at our home on Green Lake home as we would like. We are thrilled to be able to share this spot and vicariously enjoy the summer on the lake with our guests.

Martha Tecca purchased this house in 1990

Why Martha Tecca chose Adirondacks

My parents discovered Green Lake in the early 70's and both rented and owned other houses on the lake. They purchased this home in 1990, because it's truly the best spot on what we think to be the best lake in the foothills of the Adirondacks! The house sits right on the lake, with the road a safe distance behind it; there is a nice stretch of waterfront, with a gradually sloping, sandy bottom; we have wonderful neighbors on both sides; there are hiking and biking trails right out the back door; and from our protected, small lake, we can access larger Canada, West and Lily Lakes. It's a truly special spot!

What makes this house unique

So many! The house is really set in nature, with a master bedroom that looks out over the lake and a fabulous deck that fills with afternoon sun. There are always loons, and in this calm lake you often see them just yards from the shore. Two firsts this year: the biggest fish we've caught in green lake -- my son caught an 18' bass, and we saw a merganser duck with 7 babies on her back! Two days later the ducklings were following her solo. There's always something new!

Peaceful, relaxing place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

My family of four had the pleasure of staying here last week. It is a beautiful, serene spot. We hiked different trails every day. Fished right off the dock. Kayaked and canoed while observing the local loon family...star gazed and made s'mores by the fire...woke up to the beautiful view outside the bedroom window. The house has everything you need. The little store just down the road has anything you may have forgotten. I wish we were still there!

We loved our week on Green Lake!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Boyd Cottage for the last week in August. The house was perfect for our family! Green Lake is absolutely beautiful and the view from the house and deck is spectacular. We enjoyed hiking the area mountains and we rented a pontoon boat from the Canada Lake Marina for a day. We all loved swimming and fishing from the docks and enjoyed using the kayak, canoe and rowboat. We also brought 4 kayaks of our own. Our 3 grandsons had an absolute blast! We would definitely recommend this house to anyone that wants to spend time in the Adirondacks on a beautiful quiet lake!

Owner's Response: You did it all! We are so glad you enjoyed yourselves. Love that youngsters are getting to know all the Adirondacks have to offer in the same way that we did as children (and our own children did). Not often you hear "a blast" and "quiet lake" together, but as you found, it's true!

As usual, this years stay was wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Lodging was clean, comfortable and fully equipped. Green Lake is clear, clean and at the prefect temperature. The local camp store is fully stocked with anything that anyone could possibly need (especially great ice cream). Lots of fun things to do and see in the local area and near by towns. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Lovely gem in the woods.

  • 4 of 5

My sister and her kids were visiting from Florida so we traveled to the Boyd Camp and had a wonderful week. Though rain threatened us throughout the week, we were still able to take out the boats, hike the trails and enjoy evening campfires. The camp is very comfortable, though we had to go to the store for toilet paper, paper towels and wood. I recommend you bring DVD's if the weather is troublesome.

Owner's Response: We're glad you had a wonderful week, despite the weather! I'm sorry you were surprised that paper goods are not provided. We will underscore that information in our pre-arrival information. We have lots of kitchen towels and paper napkins, to make it easy for guests to avoid disposables. We ensure that there's at least a partial roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, but we do not stock it. The store half a mile from the house has these items. It's a good reminder for guests to bring favorite DVD's. There a few DVDs, plus cards, books, games, and some art supplies for inside fun. We appreciate your feedback.
