Adirondacks House Rental Photos and Description

4BR, 3 Bath, LR with Sofabed, Boathouse/Cabin, Sleeps 8+

The perfect location for your family vacation, couple's getaway, group retreat or reunion. Our house is the best location on an extraordinary lake, with southern exposure, a large deck and plenty of dock space, plus a swim float. Green Lake is a small, pond-size lake, so boat traffic is low, waves are small, and kids are safe. Canada Lake, accessed by boat, offers more adventures. Hike from the house to Kane Mountain fire tower for breathtaking views, or let the kids explore nearby ponds with salamanders, tadpoles and beaver dams. You can have a fulfilling week without leaving the lake – but there’s lots to explore in this unique southern Adirondack location. Saratoga, Cooperstown, the Adirondack Museum and Lake George Great Escape are popular day trips.

About Martha Tecca

My siblings and I grew up with summers on Green Lake, and we have a deep love for this special place and its people. I now live in New Hampshire -- also beautiful country, but I miss being able to spend as much time at our home on Green Lake home as we would like. We are thrilled to be able to share this spot and vicariously enjoy the summer on the lake with our guests.

Martha Tecca purchased this house in 1990

Why Martha Tecca chose Adirondacks

My parents discovered Green Lake in the early 70's and both rented and owned other houses on the lake. They purchased this home in 1990, because it's truly the best spot on what we think to be the best lake in the foothills of the Adirondacks! The house sits right on the lake, with the road a safe distance behind it; there is a nice stretch of waterfront, with a gradually sloping, sandy bottom; we have wonderful neighbors on both sides; there are hiking and biking trails right out the back door; and from our protected, small lake, we can access larger Canada, West and Lily Lakes. It's a truly special spot!

What makes this house unique

So many! The house is really set in nature, with a master bedroom that looks out over the lake and a fabulous deck that fills with afternoon sun. There are always loons, and in this calm lake you often see them just yards from the shore. Two firsts this year: the biggest fish we've caught in green lake -- my son caught an 18' bass, and we saw a merganser duck with 7 babies on her back! Two days later the ducklings were following her solo. There's always something new!

Beautiful property on a peaceful lake!

  • 5 of 5

To begin, Martha was very accommodating when arranging my reservation. The house was lovely...plenty of room for a group of 8 for a long weekend. Excellent views, quiet surroundings, MORE

than enough waterfront for sitting by the fire, hanging out on the docks, or socializing on the massive deck.

We really enjoyed the large dining room area overlooking the water. Spent each night there huddled around a game or playing music, eating, and drinking. The kitchen was spacious, the rooms were cozy and clean, and we really can't say enough about the setup. Prefect for a large group. 3 bathrooms!!!

Another positive: visits from the super friendly and cute neighbor dogs...one of them took a little swim then stopped over to say hi.

Only negative: not enough time to stay there. Hopefully we can come back!!!

Thanks so much Martha and family for sharing your charming lakefront home. It was a perfect weekend!!

Great Location with Nice Amenities!

  • 4 of 5

This home is on a quiet lake but then yet connected to it's sister lake...The home provided canoes, rowboat and kayak....Sheets and towels were a plus as well as being able to leave them behind. A great perk. The fire pit was perfect, right on the lake...and with 2 docks, everyone could fish without crowding each other....some toilet paper and paper towels are provided...I would suggest bringing your own as an precaution so that you don't have to run out for extras. The grill worked well, for the one night...the only concern was the pans. Most were non-stick and really "aged"...thus replacing with stainless steel would be probably a safer option, thank goodness they had one stainless steel pan, that was our go to pan for the weekend. Everyone's dogs seem to roam...thus if you are not a dog lover, then just keep your eyes out...we didn't have a problem, the dogs were friendly, just around to sniff and check out the new guests. We had a hot weekend, thus brought a few fans from home...those saved the day as well. Thanks so much for the great home...if time presents itself in the future, we will return.

Owner's Response: We're glad you had a lovely, hot Memorial Day weekend! Yes, the neighbors' dogs are friendly. We appreciate the feedback on the pans. We add at least one new nonstick pan each year, and there are definitely some older ones still there. We'll remove some of those. So that future guests know, there are fans in each bedroom's closet, so you aren't likely to need extras. If you've got your favorite, however, of course bring it along! We look forward to having you back sometime soon.

Beautiful October weekend!

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice weekend here. The house is on a small quiet lake with colorful surrounding hills. The owner is very nice to work with. There's not a lot to do in October but the Erie Canal tour in Herkimer is fun and educational.

Beautiful Quiet Location on Green Lake

  • 5 of 5

It would be hard to find another cabin on Green or Canada Lake with the gorgeous views and waterfront access. The layout is perfect for everyone to do whatever activity they would like, from swimming, to kayaking, to sitting on the spacious deck looking at mountains and crystal clear lake. The big kitchen serves as a wonderful gathering place when guests are visiting while the outdoor gas grill provided a perfect grilling location while still being able to socialize. Privacy, beautiful hemlocks and the daily hummingbird visits added to a great experience for our family. Thanks, Martha!
