Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Both bathrooms redone in April, 2016.

This 2 bedroom 2 bathroom is a beautiful and comfortable villa. It's a short walk from the villa to the beach and is located in a quiet neighborhood. Shopping, bars and restaurants are nearby; you walk, bike or drive to these slightly more commercial areas. Fiddler's Cove Resort is a great vacation place for small families, couples and active seniors. You can hear the surf at night from the deck. The unit faces east so the deck is in the shade from the afternoon sun. You can sit out on the deck in the afternoon enjoying a cool drink while you decide what you want to do about dinner. You can also just walk across the parking lot to the Clubhouse to enter one of 2 pools on the property. A dip before dinner or before bed can be very relaxing. For 2014, all the beach chairs are new and I've put a deck box on the deck to store the chairs and other items. I hope this will protect them better from the weather. I've also added a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink. I hope that helps make clean up easier!

About Julie Wilson

I am a clinical social worker living just outside Atlanta. The beach is where I go to recharge my batteries.

Julie Wilson purchased this villa in 2010

Why Julie Wilson chose Hilton Head

I have loved lakes and oceans all my life and when I found this condo that was just a short walk to the beach and a convenient driving distance from my home, I felt as if I'd hit the jackpot. I had looked at properties up and down the Georgia coast from Tybee Island to Jekyll Island, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the Atlantic and Gulf sides of Florida as well as the Florida panhandle, but when my neighbors rented me their Folly Field Rd. condo on Hilton Head, I knew I had found the right piece of paradise for me. The Folly Field area on Hilton Head is a residential community, although there are several very nice hotels within walking distance on the beach, the beach in between these properties is rarely crowded.

What makes this villa unique

For rentals over 4 weeks I will offer a 10% discount on the entire rental regardless of the season.

Wonderful ! We loved easy access to the pools and beach. The condo met all of our needs

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time. Our only regret was not extending our vacation time. It was very quiet and relaxing . I really appreciate the owner having beach towels and beach supplies available for us to use. I also appreciated that she has a cleaning service before and after our stay . It was a bonus not to have to bring any linens . It was very convenient to have a washer and dryer in the condo .

Great unit, lots of amenities, close to golf courses.

  • 5 of 5

The unit served two senior golfers very well. All the amenities were in good order ie. washer, fridge, showers, TV, stove, etc. The check in was fast, the unit was clean and well stocked, the instruction sheet provided by the owner was detailed, and the owner's communication was great. Julie, thanks for having us!

Very good experience.

Enjoyed our month and will only not rent again due to being on the third floor. Love Fiddlers Cove. Great location. Good bike riding and such a short distance to the beach. Recommend this rental. Owner very accessible.

Peaceful and Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've stayed in this home and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we brought our 5 & 7 year old and they loved the place and loved the beach gear available to them. The DVD player in their room was especially helpful. the home is clean and had everything we needed to cook dinner a few times. I love that a beach cart was added, too. Very short stroll to folly field beach which was far less crowded than the other beach areas. I prefer the cleaning service and Julia uses one. Fresh sheets & fresh towels instantly make me feel great when i'm renting a home for vacation. will return to hilton head and will return to this property!

Owner's Response: It is always great to have guests return for another stay, and I am pleased that this family was pleased. I try to make improvements to the property every year and I'm glad the beach cart was a hit. The next time they come, they'll notice that the 2 bathrooms have had a facelift. I really appreciate guests treating the condo as a home away and not just as an impersonal hotel room. This family is welcome to return any time they want.

Lovely Villa in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The villa was exactly as represented. It was clean, cozy and the kitchen had everything needed for preparing meals. Julie was pleasant to deal with, and very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again! This villa is in Fiddlers Cove Beach and Racquet Club. It is well maintained within 5 minutes walk to the beach, has many tennis courts throughout, racquetball, ping pong, 2 fantastic pools and is on our favorite part of Hilton Head, near Folly Field Beach.

Hilton Head is a golfer's, beach lover's and biker's paradise. The beach is well within walking distance of the condo, and shopping is just a quick bike ride away. There are restaurants for every taste and budget. The bird watching is fantistic, especially during the seasonal migrations. Pack your binoculars! Walk or bike around Pinkney Island Wildlife Preserve. Depending on the season, you might see fluffy baby egrets in the rookery on Pinkney as I did recently. If you're walking around Ibis Pond, on Pinkney Island, you might come upon Mama Alligator sunning on the edge of the pond. She's keeping an eye on her babies. I counted 5 on the pond bank with her and noticed several more in the water, near her. Leave her alone and she'll leave you alone. I recommend taking bikes to Pinkney, but if you have the time and energy, you'll see more wildlife if you're walking. Do you want to kayak? There are several outfitters on the island so join a guided group if you are a beginner. There are also several outfitters who will rent kayaks by the hour or day so you can explore the salt marshes on your own. The perfect time for kayaking is just before and just after high tide. The tide timer in the condo is fairly accurate. Check it, and add about an hour to get an estimate for the tides for the next day. There are many places that rent bikes and several will deliver right to the condo bike racks. They'll pick them up too so take advantage of the miles of bike and walking trails on the island.

Everyone loves the Salty Dog Restaurant right on the dock at South Beach in Sea Pines. You can also access the beach across the street from the South Beach Marina. If you're patient, you'll likely see dolphins and sea birds like Osprey and Bald Eagles. The other popular destination in Sea Pines is Harbor Town where you'll find the light house as well as shops and other restaurants. Don't

overlook visiting Historic Bluffton, on the May River or drive to Beaufort

you've had too much sun for one day. Historic Bluffton has lots of unique shops, galleries and several great restaurants. It is off the island but is a short drive towards I-95 on 278.Try The Cottage for a wonderful meal but make reservations. If you are a Pat Conroy fan, Beaufort is a "must", and visit the Pen Center for some history of the Gullah .

Golfers will find many beautiful public golf courses nearby. Fiddler's Cove has 10 Har Tru tennis courts, available by reservation and 2 indoor racquetball courts. You can borrow racguetball equipment at the Security Gate. Other outdoor activities you can enjoy are surf fishing right at Folly Field beach, or try deep sea fishing on a chartered boat at Sea Pines. You can have rental bikes delivered right to the villa ( there are bike racks at the entrance to the building), and you can walk for miles on the wonderful sandy beach that is almost at your doorstep. The villa has a fully equiped kitchen; all the plates, utensils, cutlery and pots and pans were purchased specifically for the condo and I replace things when I notice wear and tear or when I am notified that anything is looking a little 'tired'. However, the island also has many excellent restaurants within an easy drive. So, eat in or eat out. The choice is yours.

A new attraction this year on the island is a Zipline adventure, off Marshland Rd., about mid-island. I haven't tried it yet but it looks fun. You'll pass it on the way to the Broadcreek Marina. I recommend taking a wonderful 2 hour cruise on the 'Island Queen' or 'Pelican' and see dolphins and sea birds up close. These boats depart from the Broadcreek Marina, on Marshland Road several times a day and provide a more intimate perspective on the sea creatures. They're also less expensive than some other dolphin watch trips. Even in the summer, take a sweater if you plan to take a sunset cruise. Once the sun goes down, the evening sea breeze can be chilly. As you may have gathered, you can be as busy or as chill as you like while you are on Hilton Head.

For anyone who would like to swim in a pool after the Fiddler's Cove pools close for the season ( mid November to mid March) the Island Rec Center has a covered pool that is available for lab swimming, water aerobics and other activites for a very reasonable fee of 5.00 a day ( or 4.00/day for seniors.) The dome (or cover) comes off in March, just like the pools at Fiddler's Cove , but I know a lot of winter guests would like the opportunity to actually swim during the time our pools are unavailable. For more information about the rec center, you can check it out online.

One final comment; the sand dollars you'll likely see at low tide are alive if they are brown. Please leave them on the beach or gently toss them back into deeper water. While sand dollars are not yet endangered, the are becoming scarcer. White sand dollars are dead ones and are fine for adding to your shell collection. I hope you love the island as much as I do!
