Travelers Rest is listed in the King & Queen book of historical homes. There are two houses. The main house was build in 1860. The original house, which is now the guest house was build in 1750. This historical home will set you back in time, with its old woodwork and lavish you with all the modern comforts.
Travelers Rests name comes from it being a place George Washington would stop and rest when he was traveling between Washington and Williamsburg. Travelers Rest Farm promises georgeous sunrises and relaxing sunsets. Take a chair and enjoy the views that made us fall in love with this place.
You can enjoy this peaceful place by yourself, with family and/or friends. If you desire to hide out this is your place. If you would like to have a little activity ........horse riding, yoga, get a massage or take floral design classes from a German master florist.
This 1760 house is a beautiful renovated with two bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom has a king size bed, the other bedroom has two twin size beds, sharing the bathroom. Downstairs is a full kitchen, another bathroom, laundry room and living room. Additional guest can be easily accommodated in this historical home.

If you feel like farm work , let us know and we will show you what needs to be done and you hopefully enjoy doing.
dont go here ..there are plenty of other better properties in the area. Property manager was absent , curt and apathetic
A family of six stayed here very comfortably. Owners were helpful. We used the location as a base for day travel. It was great to have room, the kids could go outside and stretch. We enjoyed getting out of the cities and relaxing in a rural setting at night. We used the full kitchen to cook breakfast and supper. It saved us quite a bit of money. We would go back and use the same property again.
We loved our stay at the Travelers Rest farm host. The historical farm house has plenty of charm, but you're still connected withi Wifi if needed. The farm itself is beautiful, and the Agnes, the host was responsive leading up to the visit, and super friendly in-person. We'll definitely be returning for some horseback riding.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Travelers Rest Farm. Agnes and her family were very gracious yet extended space to us. We really enjoyed the farm setting and also the historic house. My son, who is stationed at Ft. Lee, VA was glad to be able to get away from the base and chill for awhile. I even took the kayak and puttered around the pond a little while.
We would definitely come and stay here again in the future.
Wow!! What a wonderful home located in a beautiful and tranquil setting. Our family enjoyed our stay on this historical farm. Our granddaughter loved running around the property and seeing the horses and the Peacocks. She collected leaves and chestnuts for her nature collection. Our dog Pippin loved watching the horses and having a large area to run and play. The owner's dogs were very friendly and we enjoyed them coming over to greet us daily. As you drive into the property the tree lined driveway is very welcoming. Our guest house for the week had all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable. There is such history in this home and the character of the home and the decor is perfect. I would recommend this home for a relaxing weekend or for a week vacation. Richmond and Williamsburg are a very close drive from the property. The night sky is beautiful to enjoy star gazing and the crisp fall air was a pleasing extra. We enjoyed fire's in the wood fireplace and conversation together rather than watching TV. We will certainly visit again to enjoy another perfect family vacation. Thanks for the hospitality. DoJo
I was part of a group of bicyclists that stayed at the farm to see the races in Richmond. It was a wonderful base to ride from as well as sightsee. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Washington DC and Virginia Beach are all within 2 hrs with many other interesting things close by. Agnes and family make you feel like family visiting their eclectic farm. The farmhouse has everything you need, with plenty of room inside and out for privacy. The pond is full of fish to catch and if you love horses, this is the place to stay! Thanks Agnes, we had a great time!
