Imagine being just a few minutes’ walk from all of Key West’s most famous attractions, yet in the peace and solitude of Key West’s most exclusive gated community, the Truman Annex. With Duval Street just two blocks away and the beach at Fort Zachary Taylor Park right around the corner, you couldn’t hope for a more ideal location. And while you’re here, your home away from home will have every luxury and convenience you might want. 'Avalynn House' has just been completely renovated, and has been meticulously furnished to a very high standard, with many one-of-a-kind pieces. Original Artwork is everywhere you look.
THE LIVING AREA...
As you enter this stately home, the first things you’ll notice are the 11-foot ceilings and the light coming in through the French doors and windows. The living area is an open plan, perfect for entertaining in the tropics. There is plenty of seating for everyone in your group, and a dining table that will seat ten comfortably. The 55-inch flat screen TV is visible from any place in the entire living area. The gourmet kitchen with its large central island and bar has been equipped with everything an ambitious chef would want to prepare that very special meal. Outside, there is a very spacious porch facing the pool, and a separate dining area under a gazebo.
THE LAGOON POOL & THE BEACH DOWN THE BLOCK...
The lagoon style pool is quite special, with two waterfalls and massaging jets built into the walls. The entire area has been lushly landscaped, providing you with the privacy you would want. And if you need to feel some sand between you toes, the beach at Fort Zachary Taylor Park is just a short walk away.
The first bedroom is on the main floor, with a queen bed, flat screen TV and a half bath in the hall. On the second level you’ll find the second bedroom with two twin beds and flat screen TV. We stayed at the Avalynn house with our entire family, in-laws and all, for the Thanksgiving holiday. The home was so incredible and actually had something for everyone. The pool was just the perfect size for the kids and the living area/kitchen provided the perfect setting for gathering to either watch TV or just eat and enjoy some cocktails. The bedrooms were all far enough away from the public areas and provided great privacy. Additionally, the home was beautifully appointed. We had a couple of minor issues which was to be expected, but Shel from Last Key Realty was UNBELIEVBLE! What a guy. If there was an issue it was resolved immediately and he was always around to just make sure we were all happy and having a great time. I can't decide if I liked the house or the service Shel provided more!!!! I WILL be back and I WILL rent from Last Key again. We all had an amazing time and appreciated the extra special service.
Everything about this rental was perfect. It was an incredible home. We hosted lots of friends and family for my fiancee's 50th birthday. It was definitely perfect. Everyone at Last Key Realty was a pleasure to deal with, including Shell who greeted me when I arrived and met us when we left to insure we were totally satisfied with everything. I highly recommend renting this house. And if this house doesn't suit your needs then contact Last Key Realty to have them find you something that suits your needs!
perfect house, prefect location! It was an excellent house for our adult family reunion. The house and the town had something for every taste and need. Shel made it seamless!!
My fiancée and I stayed at Avalynn house the first two weeks of March. The location is excellent: just a short walk away from some of Key West’s best-known attractions, such as Duval and Mallory Square, but within a quiet, safe, and well-cared-for gated community. Everything is within walking distance, including a number of great restaurants. You can walk in one direction in the morning and watch the sun come up over the Atlantic and walk in the other direction in the evening to see it set into the Gulf of Mexico – how bad can it be?
The property is the architectural embodiment of Key West. There’s plenty of space, a sizeable kitchen, a comfortable living room, and a backyard patio with a ceiling fan. You can park your car next to the backyard entrance, which is very convenient.
The Guest Services Coordinator – Shel – is just great: punctual, helpful, calm, tactful, unintrusive, with a great sense of humor.
A curiosity item: one evening, a sizeable iguana ambled into our backyard and plunged into the pool. It didn’t seem to mind being photographed.
Shel the agent was always helpful and the property manager fixed the waterfall as quickly as possible.
My husband and I have been traveling to Key West up to multiple times each year for the last eight years and we are thrilled to have come across Last Key Realty the past year and their beautiful, well-kept rentals in safe, quiet neighborhoods. We will continue to rent through them as we have had superior service that exceeds our expectations each and every time. The Avalynn House in the Truman Annex has been our favorite thus far. The main living area is just as beautiful as the images and a great space for a family or group of friends to come together. The home was well-kept and clean. We have had the pleasure of working with Shel from Last Key Realty twice now and look forward to working with him in the future. If we had any questions or concerns, they were answered and taken care of quickly. We were very impressed with his dedication to each property as well as our overall experience. We highly recommend using Last Key Realty knowing you'll be pleased from start to finish!
When last we spoke I relayed the tale of the courageous adults and their ferocious battle with the uber happy 5 year old at Avalynn House. I am back to report yet another strange happening from that very locale. He appeared on a Saturday. Some said his arrival was foretold by a distinct northerly chill, and perhaps what seemed to be the odor of pierogi. Many have come to know him as “The Northern Man,” a dreadful, unsociable creature, but that, old friend, is not my intent for relaying this tale. For it is what happened after only a few days in the sun that truly amazes scientists and skeptics alike. You see, The Northern Man checked into his lodging at 522 Emma St., and found it so perfect that immediately some form of metamorphosis began. He thawed himself in the elegantly designed pool. He sat bare-chested on Fort Zach Beach. Some say he even laughed and smiled as he bounded child-like into the pillowy-blue ocean. He was then seen tip-toeing across Duval St. with an ice cream cone in one hand and a margarita in the other. And perhaps what is most puzzling of all, he was seen with several others of his kind upon a sailboat. And if none of this manages to perplex you, then have a look at this – the last known communication of the Northern Man in Key West. It was found scribbled upon a napkin at Capt. Tony's, "From snowy reaches we alight upon this paradise intent on melting free the stagnant blood and icy blockade of muscle and bone beneath our taught wintry hide. A rising sun bleaching the dawn sky begins our change. A lightness is born within the soul. The north-born cynicism softens. A toothy smile crests and crashes upon any in its path. We are reborn in the space of a day. And at the end of it, the sister to that glorious sunrise – A blood orange sunset spills itself across the receding tide and beats toward us on the back of the undulating sea in what we can only feel as some palpitation of a great and beautiful cosmic heart. This is Key West and where it takes us." The note appeared to have been left to a local - a man by the name of Shel. The inscription at the top of the note read as follows, “ For Shel, A truly kind and hard-working man. When we called, you answered us. When we sought advice, you counseled us. When we drank way too much and cried, you held us (well, you didn’t, but not for a second would I doubt that you would.) You’re a wonderful spirit, a cherry atop a big tropical sundae, and a genuine friend. Thanks for everything."
